Here is the link to the
most important website for the UEFA coefficients and it gets updated very quickly. I've been using this for years.
Country coefficients are calculated from the performance of each federations clubs in Europe over the last 5 years.
Coefficients points (for last 5 years) as of the end of this past season (2014/2015):
Spain: 99.999
England: 80.391
Germany: 79.415
Italy: 70.510
Basically this means that the top 3 countries will have 4 spots in the CL next season and 3 in Europa League... So to make it clearer, in the season of 2015/2016, Serie A will tell it's clubs at the start of the season that only the top 3 will qualify to the CL
next season (2016/2017) and the next 3 to the EL. Slightly confusing I know, but I'll try to make it even clearer.
Next season UEFA will erase the coefficient points of the season 5 years ago (2010/2011). This is where Italy will be at a HUGE advantage relative to the England and Germany.
Coefficient points of 2010/2011 season that will get erased next seaon:
Spain: 18.214
England: 18.357
Germany: 15.666
Italy: 11.571
So basically we will start the 2015/2016 season with these points for each of the countries:
Spain: 99.999 - 18.214 = 81.785
Germany: 79.415 - 15.666 = 63.749
England: 80.391 - 18.357 = 62.034
Italy: 70.510 - 11.571 = 58.939
Meaning the difference from next season's start between Italy and:
Germany is 4.81
England is 3.095
Which is very, very very possible to do. This season Italy outperformed England by 5.429 (mainly due to English clubs fking up badly but also credit to Italy for doing much better than the last 5 years).
Want more good news?
At the end of next season, the coefficient points of the season of 2011/2012 will get erased... here are what the countries earnt in those years:
Spain: 20.857
England: 15.250
Germany: 15.250
Italy: 11.357
This basically means that if
Italy and England perform equally in the season of 2015/2016, Italy will be ahead of England for the start of the 2016/2017 season.... meaning that if we ended the season above them, we will have 4 CL spots in the 2017/2018 season, which means we can only have 4 teams in the CL by the 2018/2019 season.
However, if Italy outperform England by 3.095 points next season or Germany by 4.81 points next season, then the process I said in the previous paragraph will come forward a year earlier.
Each win in the coefficients is worth 2 points, each draw is 1 point. A win in the CL is equal to a win in the EL, they're both the same number of points. In the CL, teams get 4 bonus points for qualifying to the group stages and 5 bonus points for qualifying to the knock-out stages. Country coefficients are averaged out, so since Italy has only 6 teams compared to Eng,Spa,Ger's 7 teams, a win for Italy would be 2 points/6 teams = 0.333 points, but a win for the other 3 countries would be 2 points/7 teams = 0.2857....
meaning that a win for us is worth 16% more than a win for the other countries above us.
Taking into account what's going on in Serie A, there are a few clubs that'll have their own stadiums in 3 years from now besides Juve: Milan, Udinese, Roma, Fiorentina... other clubs that are looking into it are Palermo, Cagliari, Sampdoria. If these clubs start generating higher revenues by the time we earn back our 4th CL spot, Italy could very well be back to it's best.
One thing is for sure though, a big battle between Italy and England is going to take place in the future for the four CL spots. Germany is also hanging on, they could lose it but they are currently in a better position than England
