Pini Zahavi speaks with details about his latest meeting with Bayern: "I came to the meeting with my collaborator Humberto Paiva. Hasan Salihamidžić and Oliver Kahn were present on Bayern's side"
Zahavi: "The meeting went as follows: We arranged to meet for lunch, it was just after 12 p.m. in Munich. The restaurant was as good as empty. In the first 45 minutes, the name Robert Lewandowski was not mentioned once."
Zahavi: "So I came all the way to Munich to enjoy a nice lunch in a pleasant atmosphere with the people in charge of FC Bayern. That's nice, I thought. It just kept going, they wanted to talk about transfer rumors and the weather. But Robert's name still didn't come up"
Zahavi: "At some point it was too much for me and I asked: Let's talk about Robert, what do you want to offer us?' Then Kahn and Salihamidžić talked for a long time about the situation of Neuer and Müller, that both would only get one year more."
Zahavi: "Without actually saying it, they hinted that it would be no different for Robert. I told Oliver (Kahn): 'We can talk about a new contract here and now - but we need a year more than the others.' A model until 2024 with an automatic option for another year until 2025"
Zahavi: "That would also have played into the hands of Bayern in terms of communication. I put that out there, but there was nothing - nothing: no concrete offer, no salary talks"
Zahavi: "But Robert and his family had already decided to leave FC Bayern. Don't worry, no one turned his head. After this meeting, however, it was finally clear to me: This time there's no chance. I would like to emphasize again that it was never about money."
Zahavi: "I have never asked for a penny more in any meeting. Not a penny, not a euro, not a mark, not a peso and also not a ruble. We never talked about money during this time, neither for Robert nor for me."
Zahavi: "A few days after our meeting in Munich, Hasan approached Robert after training. To this day he has not understood what the point and purpose of this exchange was. According to Robert, it was a very awkward conversation that wasn't about his future at all"
Zahavi: "If Bayern really wanted to extend Robert, then they would have taken one of these opportunities to concretely talk about a new contract. But they haven't"
Zahavi: "Although I've been in the football business for so many years and have experienced a lot, the behavior of Bayern bosses has left me astonished. And instead of questioning themselves, they're blaming me for everything!"
