The Conclusions:
1 . Nicklas Bendtner can be called overconfident and plenty of other things, but his talent and sense of positioning cannot be denied. He claimed the hat-trick that never happened against Burnley in the Champions League last night and celebrated in style.
2 . Samir Nasri's goal will be remembered by any football fan for a long time. Besides the goal, he also put in a very good shift. Andrei Arshavin also performed marvelously. Thomas Vermaelen and Alex Song also did very well last night to keep out the Porto attackers.
3 . Arsenal is not all about Cesc Fabregas. Everybody was worried about Cesc's absence,but last night, Arsenal showed that they are a wonderful team with or without their superb captain. They thrashed a team which has won the major prize in Europe twice. The fact that they turned the first leg deficit around also says plenty about their mental strength.
4 . Thomas Vermaelen must be the buy of the season. Arsene Wenger's intelligence once again stands out. He brought in a Belgian who not many people had heard off, but Vermaelen has given marvelous shifts all season in defence. He is also a wonderful attacker and scores some great goals.
He was brilliant as usual last night. Sol Campbell also did well in his Emirates debut last night.
5 . The Arsenal fans deserve credit for their team's successes. When Bendtner was taken off against Burnley, the Arsenal fans didn't boo him for his misses but rather gave him a standing ovation for the shift he put in. Last season, they had really misbehaved with Emmanuel Eboue following a poor performance in a game. Bendtner and Eboue's celebrations after the last goal really told the story about the change in the attitudes of the fans.
6 . The team that was labeled as "boys" by Patrice Evra has really matured. The likes of Alexandre Song and Abou Diaby have really stepped up to the plate in the absence of bigger names. Arsene Wenger apparently never went into the market for a defensive midfielder. The maturing of Alex Song now makes his decision seem to be wise.
7 . Arsenal are beautiful to watch. They are perhaps the best footballing side in the world alongside Barcelona. Last night, they proved this once again as they gave the Emirates crowd their money's worth.
