Jamie Carragher -
''Brendan Rodgers is playing down Liverpool's chances in the title race because that's what he's done all season and they've been winning, so why change it? It's obvious for everyone to see how close they are to the top. They're right in there now.
''You look at how they're playing and their results, like against Southampton with the win. That's a difficult place to go, I think City and Arsenal drew there and Chelsea got a good win there, but to go there and win so emphatically, I think, was a major statement because that will have been one of the games that the likes of City, Chelsea and Arsenal will have looked at and thought Liverpool might have dropped points.
''So, to get one of the tough games out of the way and to come away with three points will have been a massive bonus to them and a real confidence boost.''
Carra on Brendan Rodgers -
''When he came in it was difficult to start with and the first August transfer window, when he missed out on a couple of players on the deadline, was a nightmare for him.
''It wasn't until the first January, really, when he got Coutinho and Sturridge in that he really put his stamp on the team and put players in that he wanted.
''Luis Suarez, at the time, was the only striker, so to bring those two players in was key. If you look at Liverpool's record since that January, it's probably been as good as anyone's.
''It was a great end to the season and it's carried on into this season. They've been a bit fortunate with no European football to play, so that may have been a blessing in disguise to have missed out on the Europa League last season.
''And I think that's to Liverpool's advantage, as Jose Mourinho keeps mentioning, that Liverpool have had less games to play.''
On Liverpool's defence -
''Well, he spent a lot of money on Sakho, so you'd expect him to come back into the side when he's fit. Over the last few weeks the defence has came in for a lot of criticism, but they've still been winning.
''If your defenders are playing poorly and you still come out winning, well, they're not going to play like that every week. They got a clean sheet at Southampton and the problems are only when defenders are costing you games, and at the moment the attackers are doing so well that they're saving the defence.
''Their bigger problems have been in the last few weeks and to come out of games where you've defended poorly and won isn't the end of the world.
''I spoke to a lot of supporters and friends after the Swansea game and they were very negative, but they won! They didn't lose, they didn't draw and they got the three points.''
On the amount of goals Liverpool have scored this season -
''You look at the other teams, like City and Chelsea, and they can go out and spend, spend, spend and sign the top attacking players. Liverpool couldn't do that and had to get Coutinho - who wasn't getting a game at Inter - and Sturridge who was the same.
''When Rodgers first came in I think Liverpool were one of the lowest scoring teams in the top 10, so to take that and then become the highest scorers, against the likes of City and their four top strikers, is a testament to the manager and the team.''
