Some newspapers reported the news of possible referral by the Federal Prosecutor of Massimo Moratti and Enrico Preziosi for the alleged irregularities in the deal that led to Diego Milito and Thiago Motta at Inter. This deal is considered irregular because of the disqualification of Genoa president. However the lawyer Mattia Grassani, national expert of sporting laws, replies immediately to this whole situation and said that there will just be minimal fines for both parties. "Simply because - he explained - there has never been a really heavy penalty in cases like this before. At most the leadership of both club could get suspended for 15-20 days and a fine."
On the same wavelength as another expert in Mario Stagliano: "From the papers I have seen I think the referral against Moratti, Preziosi, Inter and Genoa is only for the relationship between the first and second, despite the suspension for the Genoa president (which will expire in July of next year). It's certain - Stagliano added - that the form of transfer of Milito and Thiago Motta was signed (in the interest of Genoa) is not inhibited. Therefore the membership (or contract) of the two players are not in anyway revoked. So I believe that it will be an economic sanction for the two clubs and for a period of suspension for both president. Nothing however is for the players."
Ruggiero Palombo, vice-director of the Gazzetta dello Sport, discusses the case concerning the meeting between Preziosi and Moratti and the negotiation which involved Motta and Milito. Today, some newspapers have fantasized about possible cancellations of contracts, penalties, revoking titles and possibly fine for Inter. The situation is quite different: "It seems like a small thing and given the suspension of Preziosi, the referral should has arrived the next day not after a year. However, in previous cases, penalties were limited to suspension, short one for the managers and fine. There is no case in which we are talking about revocation, penalties, canceled contracts or anything like that."
