Kees van der Pijl, a Dutch professor in the Department of International Relations at the University of Sussex, recently finished writing a book titled “The Launch: Flight MH17, Ukraine and New Cold War” (Der Abschuss: Flug MH17, die Ukraine und der neue Kalte Krieg).
Professor van der Pijl examines the tragedy from a geopolitical perspective and asks: who benefited most from this disaster? And he answers: the US, which subsequently imposed sanctions against Russia, undermining its gas industry and checking its growing role on the international stage.
Specifically, the professor cites the following arguments:
– One day before the tragedy, the BRICS nations signed an agreement to establish their own bank, which the US saw as a rival to the IMF and World Bank.
– Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel had settled on a new conceptual framework for resolving the crisis in Ukraine – without US input – and real progress was being made.
– In addition, once the Boeing 777 was downed, American gas companies were suddenly able to find the traction to kick-start their work in Europe and force Russia out of the EU market. Moscow was forced to abandon the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline, and relations with the government in Kiev, which subsequently became a pawn in the games played by the West, definitively soured.
– How could Ukrainian President Poroshenko, who announced the tragedy 15 minutes after it occured, have known that the Boeing 777 had been shot down by a Russian Buk missile?
– Why does the investigative commission not take into account the results of the experimental destruction of a retired passenger airliner by the company Almaz Antey, while also refusing to take part in a second experiment?

По речиси 5 години од исчезнувањето, сѐ уште трае расправата што точно се случило со малезискиот авион на летот “MH370”.
Индонезискиот рибар Русли Кушмин има своја теорија. Тој тврди дека бил сведок на несреќата додека патувал на крајбрежјето северно од Суматра. Кушмин тврди дека од авионот излегувал црн чад додека паѓал кон Малајскиот мореуз.

Кушмин бил доведен од Индонезија во Малезија за да посведочи за она што го видел. Тој се заколнал во Куранот и наводно предал одредени докази. A court in the Netherlands has determined that a Russian-made missile was fired by two Russian nationals and a Ukrainian citizen, leading to the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 which killed nearly 300 people.

"The court is of the opinion that MH17 (Flight 17) was brought down by the firing of a BUK missile from a farm field near Pervomaisk, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew members," presiding judge Hendrik Steenhuis said, per Reuters.
The case is different from that of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared around four months earlier and has remained a mystery.
None of the defendants appeared for the trial that began in March 2020, and if they’re convicted, it’s unlikely they’ll serve any sentence anytime soon. Prosecutors had sought life sentences for all four. Prosecutors and the suspects have two weeks to file an appeal.
In a statement responding to the verdict, the US state department said:
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Dutch court was "under unprecedented pressure" during the hearings, adding "There can be no talk of objectivity and impartiality under such circumstances."

The Russians pointed to alleged attempts by Dutch "politicians, prosecutors and media to impose a politically motivated verdict" in the case. "We deeply regret the fact that The Hague District Court disregarded the principle of impartiality of justice in favor of the current political situation."
The Hague Court sentenced Girkin, Dubinsky and Kharchenko to life imprisonment in absentia...Russia will not have to comply with the decision of the Dutch court in the case of the crash of the MH17 aircraft in Ukraine in 2014, there are no international acts in this regard, Pavel Laptev, the first representative of the Russian Federation at the European Court of Human Rights, said, noting that in the case inconsistencies. According to the lawyer, on the fragments of the Buk missile found at the crash site of MH17, the number ended with the numbers 7379, which indicated that it belonged to Ukraine, but this fact was not taken into account by the court.
