World Bank Vice President, Shigeo Katsu, praised Macedonia as one of the best business destinations in the world at the WB and IMF Spring Meetings last weekend.
Katsu and Jane Armitage, World Bank Regional Coordinator for Southeast Europe,
underlined that the ongoing tax reforms and the Regulatory Guillotine have positioned
Macedonia among the top 5 reformers in the world, according to the Doing Business 2008 report.
Macedonia has been ranked
first in Europe and
second worldwide regarding monetary freedom by The Heritage Foundation and The Wall Street Journal.

The Awards Committee of the prestigious international
Institute of Transport Management, headquartered in the UK, announced today that Macedonia has been chosen as the
‘Best Economic Development Region’ for 2008.
Commenting on the award to Macedonia, Mr. Patrick Sheedy, Media & PR Director for the Institute of Transport Management said:
“In light of the current economic and political circumstances in Macedonia, particularly the progressive commercial climate being nurtured by the Government, European investors would do well to consider Macedonia as a potential setting for their own growth and development.”
-The judging criteria include marketing campaigns, geographic location, incentives for multinational companies, tax rates, and infrastructure.
