The mayors of Berlin and Madrid on June 24 talked with a man who posed as the mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko. This was announced by Vitali Klitschko himself in Telegram.
Yesterday [June 24] allegedly, on my behalf, the mayors of several European capitals were sent requests to communicate via ZOOM from a fake postal address. As our friends respond promptly and support us, the mayors of Berlin and Madrid have agreed to the conversation. And with the help of DeepFake technology, the attacker spoke to them, posing as Klitschko," the mayor of Kyiv said.
According to him, we are talking about an information war on the part of the Russian Federation, in particular, on disinformation and discrediting of Ukrainian politicians.
"To quarrel with European partners, so that Ukraine is not helped. I am convinced that law enforcement officers should investigate such "activities". If necessary, attract foreign specialists," Klitschko wrote.
Earlier, Tagesspiegel
reported that the Office of the Senate of Berlin announced a video meeting of Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko with Berlin Mayor Francisco Giffai. The meeting was allegedly requested in Kyiv. The man who got in touch looked like the mayor of Kiev. For 15 minutes he tried to learn about the situation in Berlin and help refugees. Then he started a conversation about ukrainian men returning to Ukraine to the front and about the possibility of Ukrainian refugees in Germany receiving social assistance by deception. This aroused the suspicions of the German side, and the half-hour conversation was interrupted.
According to bild, communication with a man who posed as the mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko, took place and the mayor of Madrid.
