Ако играме ко што игравме во прво полувреме против Лидс нема да имаме ама баш никаков проблем против тимови ко Барнли. Океј, само Лидс играат man to man marking ама мислам дека и против low block тимови ако се движат играчите ко што се движеа вчера нема да си имаме проблеми.
Многу не сакам да го кажам ова, ама мислам дека ако го играме веќе Обамејанг напред мораме лево крило да го играме ЕСР. Ако приметивте вчера кога Обамејанг се извлекуваше на крило ЕСР беше лажна 9-ка. Со брзите пасови one-two што ги имаа ЕСР-Одегард-Сака и со нивната динамика во играта му се ослободува простор на Обамејнаг. За жал, се надевам дека грешам, Пепе не е способен таков фудбал да игра. Сега за сега Пепе-Лаказет-Сака или ЕСР-Обамејанг-Сака. Иако една утамица само ги видовме вториве ама мислам дека треба и на повеќе да им се даде шанса. Артета има дооооооста големи главоболки за селекција на тројцата напред.

Процентуално не знам дали има статистика на која позиција му бил најголем придонес, ама барем дупло повеќе натпревари има најистурен играно во споредба со крило. Хмм нема шанси мислам, еве слика во проценти кај бил игран од 2018 до 2020, па под Венгер 4 месеци играше само, не дека 4 месеци бил само игран најистурен напред.

Ќе видиме, јас мислам дека има многу добри квалитети на најистурен напред и дека е човек што треба да улетува во празно на брзи пасови по земја или долги топки во фор, бидејќи вешт е во одбегнување офсајд замка, знае да процени прав момент на втрчување. Ако играта ни се темели исфрлен да е Оба до аут линија па од таму центаршут да упати или да влета, многу лесно може да се процени и да се затвори, единствено може он да е крило во формација ама пак да улетува во средина на истурени топки и да се ротираат во нападот, тоа е веќе друго.

Arsenal’s trio of young technicians can make Aubameyang thrive in a central role

Mikel Arteta’s use of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang through the middle on Sunday displayed everything his previous attempts lacked.

Since arriving in 2018, the 31-year-old has predominantly played off the left wing. Arsène Wenger, Unai Emery, Freddie Ljungberg and Arteta all tended to use him drifting inside to add the finishing touch to a move rather than have him lead the line.

Arteta moved him to the centre earlier this season, but the former Saint-Etienne forward struggled. Although Aubameyang is a natural striker, the set-up of the side — with attacking intent coming from wide areas — did not play to his strengths. There was a more effective approach to exploit his innate talents alongside his team-mates’ against Leeds, however.

Emile Smith Rowe, Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka formed an extremely technical yet athletic supporting trio, which suited Aubameyang to a tee. Instead of being stuck between the widths of the posts all game, the club captain was able to roam as the midfielders did, which caused problems for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

This was particularly evident between Aubameyang and Smith Rowe in the early exchanges.

As Ødegaard lays the ball into Granit Xhaka, Aubameyang is already peeling out to the left as Smith Rowe runs infield.

The 20-year-old is picked up by Jamie Shackleton, which opens the space in behind for Xhaka to hit from deep — which he has been doing frequently of late.

Luke Ayling follows Aubameyang on this occasion but concedes a foul when challenging for the ball on the touchline.

Four minutes later, similar movements between Arsenal’s captain and Smith Rowe led to the opener.

Once again, the ball is swept from left to right. As it leaves David Luiz’s boot, Smith Rowe turns to run away from play and is followed by Shackleton again. Aubameyang stays central but edges towards the ball.

Gabriel progresses forward and, as he crosses halfway, Smith Rowe darts back into the half-space demanding the ball. Aubameyang peels out to the left again. Gabriel encourages Leeds to press him by travelling with the ball, leaving Xhaka free in midfield for Smith Rowe to bounce the ball into him.

Xhaka needs just one touch to push the ball into Aubameyang’s path. The striker has already adjusted his body to face the goal upon receiving the ball, while Ayling has his back to him when the pass is played.

That understanding of each other, as well as the split-second decisions made off the ball, were crucial. Exploiting space was key to the style of the technician-centric Arsène Wenger sides of the early Emirates era and, with Aubameyang so effective drifting in off the left over the past three years, it’s no surprise these moves helped him excel.

“You cannot do that (play without technical players) and sustain, manipulate the ball to attack certain spaces against a team that is very man-orientated, it’s very difficult to create. You have to be very precise to find the next pass, the next movement and then you can find the openings. If you don’t, it becomes really difficult,” explained Arteta post-match to Sky Sports.

Being more active outside the box, by making runs off the ball in relation to his team-mates, helped build his overall presence. For instance, in the reverse fixture against Leeds at Elland Road, he was often isolated in the centre of the pitch — as seen in the analysis from the game — with Nicolas Pepe, Joe Willock and Willian spread too far across the pitch.

The introduction of Gabriel Martinelli, Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka around him after Christmas helped to improve this to a certain extent. While the supporting trio excelled, Aubameyang struggled to connect with them, which was most apparent in the 1-0 away win at Brighton, a game in which he frequently slowed fluid attacks down with sloppy touches in transition.

The movement behind him against Leeds helped a great deal with this.

As Luiz advances, Ødegaard bursts forward and Saka drifts towards the space he vacated in the centre circle.

Ødegaard’s movement gave Aubameyang the space to drop in, taking his marker with him. Saka continues to wrap around and is free to take the lay-off in his path and over halfway as Ødegaard continues his run and Smith Rowe stays wide.

One touch from Aubameyang, one more from Saka and Arsenal are bearing down on the Leeds back line with decent numbers.

Again, minimal touches paired with an understanding of what team-mates are doing allows them to carve Bielsa’s man-orientated side apart.

Compared to Arteta’s previous trials with Aubameyang through the middle, this approach worked best. One thing to consider, however, is the results are likely to change depending on teams’ differing defensive approaches in the Premier League. Either way, this gives the manager another option of attacking to make Arsenal far less predictable than they were earlier this season.

James McNicholas assessed what Arteta wants from his centre-forwards and the ability to link play was just as important as the ability to move across the final third. Aubameyang showed that with a sharper touch, he can fulfil both wishes more than Alexandre Lacazette, whose technical skills are let down by his physical attributes. That being said, the Frenchman will still be an important player as the season plays out with rotation necessary.

The supporting act behind the striker will result in more decisions for Arteta to make. Considering the differences between Aubameyang and Lacazette, it appears the more technical supporting players suit the former, while the pacier players work better with the latter.

Nicolas Pepe being used from the left worked well. From there he was more direct with the ball at his feet but was also willing to run in behind to be found by Xhaka (eight times against Southampton, for example). That puts less strain on Lacazette to burst into the final third as Smith Rowe and Saka also tended to run beyond him.

Just as important to what happens in possession is what happens without it. Last season, in particular, Arteta made these demands clear. Despite a lengthy goal drought, it was Lacazette’s pressing which kept him in the side until Eddie Nketiah proved he too was up to the task.

Carrying on after the first lockdown, pressing became less prevalent this season. At Old Trafford, Arsenal did well to contain Manchester United and lure them into dangerous areas rather than press, but that approach didn’t translate well with the switch from a 4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1 in late autumn. The positional problems when pressing were particularly evident at home against Wolves.

On that night, Aubameyang and Willian lacked support in their efforts. That support and structure was there against Leeds, however.

Similar to the pressing shape initially implemented by Arteta last season, three men (striker, No 10 and ball-side winger) conduct the press. Saka engaging the ball, Ødegaard monitoring the centre of the pitch to push Leeds across to the far side, where Aubameyang waits.

Once the ball is in the corner, Aubameyang engages, Ødegaard and Saka shift across and Smith Rowe advances to close the space for Leeds.

The final squeeze comes from Aubameyang and Ødegaard as Saka drops further to close the central passing lane and force the ball back. The support from Hector Bellerin, Dani Ceballos and Granit Xhaka also helps to restrict the space Leeds can work with.

Rather than simply sticking Aubameyang up top and expecting that to fix underlying issues in attack, it’s all these aspects of play which elevated his and the team’s performance.

It’s unlikely this approach will be used in every match from now until the end of the season. Arteta will have different challenges to overcome against Benfica, compared to Manchester City and even Sheffield United later in the season.

Finding those different ways of playing and who works best with who will prove crucial as the season draws to an end. Whether it’s the more technical group or the more direct, it’ll be interesting to see how they are used. Considering Aubameyang may need to be rested, this may also give Arteta the chance to try Gabriel Martinelli through the middle in the coming weeks and months.

Ауба некако ептен опуштено делува оти реално не му е загрозена позицијата во првиот тим. А не сум сигурен и дали е тука со паметот. Инаку добро ќе биде ако Давид Луиз до крај не си даде автогол, добие црвен картон или направи пенал.

Брат има многу поапла зицери промашувано само тап ин кога треба на 1 метро на празен гол. Сега не знам како цел гол го промаши. Има некоја блокада за вакви 1 на 1 100% зицери, не дека не знае да погоди, третина голови во кариера му се од такви ситуации, ама многу често се блокира што ми е несфатливо.
