AFC Wimbledon's Adebayo Akinfenwa, often referred to as 'The Beast', is looking forward to the visit of Liverpool in the FA Cup third round -
''Being a Liverpool supporter I think there's only a couple of things that could top this - playing for them, playing against them, and scoring against them.
''I'll get the opportunity, hopefully, to do two of the three things.''
On the history of the fixture - the original Wimbledon beat Liverpool in the '88 final - Akinfenwa added -
''It puts that extra spice on the game, you know, with the history of the '88 cup final.
''But the fans just want us to go out and do what we do and give a good account of ourselves. And hopefully, by the end of the 90 minutes, we show what we can do.''
With the announcement that Steven Gerrard is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, Akinfenwa is hoping to play against the No.8 -
''I truly hope that he comes to the game, I think the word 'legend' gets bandied about, but I think he is a legend and no Liverpool supporter can begrudge him if he feels he needs to move on.
''I truly hope he's at the game and I truly hope he gets to see me score against him.''
