turned down offers from clubs
he “would never have imagined
showing interest” during the
summer.

In his five years at the
Westfalenstadion, Klopp has
become one of the most highly
rated coaches in European
football.
Dortmund had been struggling
when the 46-year-old arrived
from FSV Mainz in 2008, but
Klopp has secured two
Bundesliga titles and the 2012
DFB-Pokal, as well as leading the
club to last season’s Champions
League final.
BVB’s success has led to interest
in several players from top
European sides over recent
seasons, and Klopp - linked with
the likes of Real Madrid,
Manchester United and Chelsea -
has confirmed he too has
received offers.
“Just as with Mats [Hummels],
Ilkay [Gundogan], Lewi [Robert
Lewandowski], Mario [Gotze],
Marco [Reus] and more, other
clubs have voiced their interest,”
Klopp said. “There were a few
enquiries. Some came from clubs
whom I would never have
imagined showing interest in me
and my coaching staff.”
He insists he has “too much
respect for BVB” to have
considered the offers, however.
Klopp, who declined to name the
clubs involved, added: “It’s not
like I say: [in English] ‘Oh nice, I
will come – how much do you
pay?’ My answers are well
considered and businesslike.”
Klopp also said he “had no career
plan” and “without that plan” he
ended up at Dortmund, where he
feels comfortable.
Asked what could lead to an exit
from the Westfalenstadion, he
said: “The feeling of the team
towards me would need to
change; the feeling of the club
towards me would need to
change. If I no longer fulfilled or
was willing to fulfil the
expectations, it would be better
to move on.
“There are no such feelings right
now. Therefore, things are great
for me at the club. It just gets
better at BVB. I am 46 years now.
We will see how long the BVB
chapter lasts. I am not seeking an
exit.”
