KITCHENER — A dog that bit a two-year-old boy in the face has been declared a dangerous animal by officers with the Kitchener-WaterlooHumane Society.That means the dog’s owners will have to abide by several rules if they want to keep the animal, including caging the dog when children arearound, keeping a muzzle on it and having it microchipped.The toddler and his parents were visiting an apartment on Queen Street South in the late afternoon Saturday when the homeowner’s 30-pound
Jack Russell terrier cross bit him.Kathy Innocente, spokesperson for the Humane Society, said the dog was startled before biting the child
.The toddler lost the end of his nose and was taken to hospital. He underwent plastic surgery Monday.

A family dog that bit and killed a 2-year-old Cape Coral boy has been euthanized.Lee County Animal Services reports that the 8-year-old
Weimaraner, having killed a child,was not suitable for not suitable for adoption and waseuthanized Wednesday.Authorities say Liam Perk was walking by the dog Tuesday morning when,
without any apparent provocation, he was bitten in the neck. His family called 911 and the boy was taken to a nearby hospital.
The toddler was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
... On Sunday around 7 p.m., Jana Juhasz was watching roping practice at the FallenBadge Arena in the small town of Christine. Juhasz had been to the property before,but this time, she watched her two-year-old son nearly get killed in front of her.
Juhasz says her toddler, Brock, was playing with some of the
Australian Cattle dogs,or Blue Heelers. But then Brock tripped over one of the dogs, and the dog turnedon him.Juhasz says the dog, "wasn't just mad. It wasn't just intending to hurt him. It wasout to kill him." She ran toward her son, and started kicking the dog until he got offthe toddler.
It took a 6 hour surgery to save Brock's life. He needed more than 300 stitches tohis face, and screws to wire his fractured jaw. He also lost a great deal of blood, andmay still need a metal plate in his head. He will have to be fed by a syringe for thenext 6-8 weeks, and there is concern he may lose too much weight during that time.
Brock's parents are both very angry with the dog's owners. The claim the ownersaw the attack and didn't do anything to stop it.

... POLICE are trying to trace the owner of a dog which nearly bit a three-year-old boy's finger off in Reigate.
The child was going into Priory Park with his parents at about 11am on Sunday, May 31 through the Morrisons
entrance.The family passed a woman who had three small dogs on leads, one of which jumped up and bit the toddler onhis left middle finger.
Police said the finger was "almost severed". The boy was taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill and was later treated at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, south London. The dogs were described as a brown Staffordshire bull terrier and possibly a Jack Russell, while
the animal which bit the toddler was believed to be a Chihuahua.
