Autopilot
It's been a long, long while,
Since I last took off my smile,
It needs washing, you can prolly see,
Dirty and lowdown, looks real bad on me.
I'm fishing down in the canal, with a naked hook,
I'm torn up and uprooted, and my eyes got a vacant look,
And the fish have long gone away,
And an old bullfrog that used to keep me company,
And the wind in the reeds,
And the fireflies that died on the willow branches,
Nobody stayed.
Just a lone prayer still bounces off the trees
A wake-up call that's long overdue, see-
There's a canal just over the hill
Where the fish went, along with the thrill
And the bullfrog and the wind,
And the firefly family.
It's time I switched to manual,
And drove away to where my home is.
I'm going home, hear that?
I'm going home.
