REACTION: WE'VE WON NOTHING YET

Posted on: Sat 10 Apr 2010
Carlo Ancelotti is delighted to have booked another day out at Wembley after coming through a poor first half to reach the FA Cup Final.
Our 3-0 victory was hard to come by, and the manager believed we were lucky to still be in the game by half-time, with Aston Villa having a penalty appeal turned down, before second-half goals from Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda and Frank Lampard struck to seal a second successive Final appearance.
'Every time I come to this stadium there is a fantastic atmosphere, I'm very excited because it's the second time now,' Ancelotti said, this semi-final visit coming after August's Community Shield win over Manchester United.
'The last game against United, today, the atmosphere was fantastic. I'm surprised for this because there is a lot of passion from the fans, a fantastic atmosphere. I'm very happy for this,' he smiled.
It could have been so different had a slow start from his side allowed Villa to gain the edge.
'It was a difficult game, totally different from the last game when we won. We played not so good in the first half because we played without intensity, without pressure and left a lot of space and Aston Villa was really in the game,' he analysed.
'They played well with good intensity and we were lucky to stay 0-0 in the first half, second half was totally different because we put in more intensity and pressure, and scored three goals, it was really better in the second half.
'I think the key of the match was the first goal, of Didier. He scored 32 goals, he maintains a very good opportunity to score and is working very hard for the team.
'For him it is not so important to play from the beginning, when he comes on the pitch he scores. I have very good options in this moment because all the strikers are in good condition.
Regarding Aston Villa's penalty shout, for a challenge from John Mikel Obi on Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ancelotti conceded it could easily have been given.
'It could be a penalty, it could not,' he diplomatically said. 'It was a strong tackle in our box, the referee didn't whistle. If they whistle the penalty for me it didn't change [anything], you can be lucky in that situation but a lot of the times we have been unlucky.'
Opposite number Martin O' Neill was however incensed, and believes his side were robbed of a definite spot kick, just weeks after suffering from refereeing decisions in the Carling Cup Final against Manchester United.
'I'm sitting here again talking about major incidents in the game which affect the game,' he said. 'We should have had a penalty, clear cut, you knew by the reaction it was a penalty and a referee has chosen to ignore it.
'It's a goalscoring opportunity and I accept that today I had the benefit of seeing the replay, so Ferreira is not going to get a challenge in and Agbonlahor is about to strike at goal, but we didn't even get the penalty. That's a major decision again.'
Regardless of the penalty, Chelsea are into the Final for the fifth time in 11 years, but with a Double becoming a real possibility, Ancelotti is determined to focus on one game at a time, meaning his thoughts now shift to Bolton at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
'I am focused on the next game. I don't like to speak with "if" because "if" is not really true, we know we have to work hard again,' he confirmed.
'We are very close to winning but we didn't win anything.
'We need to work hard for one month again, it is not a lot of time, six games and I think that if we prepare well every game like a final, we can take a great result this year.'
While he says he is focused on Bolton, there will surely be a part of Ancelotti thinking of May 15 when Tottenham and Portsmouth meet to decide our Cup Final opponents on Sunday afternoon.
