Every part of the digital euro will be built by Europeans. Every company hired to work on it must be European owned. If the ownership changes, if it falls into non-European hands, that company is dropped from the project. A substitute takes its place.

The digital euro will be free, he stresses, and there will be legislation to guarantee this, and to prevent banks charging for it.
The ECB will play the ‘scheme fees’, the charges levied by card networks such as Visa and American Express for using their infrastructure, and usually passed by banks to merchants

The United States wanted to spy on Angela Merkel, so they approached the Danish government, explained the plan, and asked for their help. The Danes agreed, without even knowing the target was one of their closest allies.

Then, in line with intense U.S. pressure to restrict Chinese access to sensitive technology, the Dutch government stepped in and took control of Nexperia company, based in the Netherlands but owned by Chinese.
They did so citing national security and governance concerns, without fully anticipating the severe disruptions it would cause to European supply chains.
After some weeks they had to give back the company in a shameful way.

Who respects allies that are this submissive?
Trump admires winners, nations that stand firm and assert their own interests, not ones that have become as obedient as dogs.

In wars, it was enough for the Americans to point the finger, and the European herd would rush to follow, no matter if the reasons for the war held up or not.

Today, many European governments seem adrift. They complain about Trump's actions for challenging that old dynamic and warn that he's "destroying the world."

But is he destroying the world, or simply breaking the master-and-servant relationship that previous U.S. administrations enjoyed with Europe?
