Liverpool officials are negotiating with former Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini. The Chilean is now the most probable successor to Rafael Benitez.
In the meantime, Fulham coach Roy Hodgson has rejected an offer from Liverpool.

Liverpool have announced three new friendly matches in July as they prepare for the start of the 2010-11 season.
A new era for the Reds will get underway on July 17 in Austria when Saudi Arabian champions Al Hilal will provide the opposition.
A game against Grasshoppers in Switzerland on July 21 will then be followed with a fixture against Kaiserslautern in Germany three days later before the Liverpool squad returns home to prepare for the first leg of their third round Europa League qualifier on July 29. The return leg will take place the following week on August 5.
Sandwiched in between the European ties will be a trip to Germany to face Bundesliga outfit Borussia Moenchengladbach on August 1.
The new Barclays Premier League season gets underway over the weekend of August 14-15 when Liverpool will kick-off with an Anfield clash against Arsenal.

July 2010:
16 Draw for Europa League third round qualifier

Juan Mata has admitted that a move to England would appeal to him if cash-strapped Valencia were forced to sell.
"I don't know if I'll be sold, it depends on the economic situation of the club, which right now isn't so good," said Mata.
"In the summer we have to raise a lot of money, and there is a possibility that they may have to sell players."
If such a situation arose and he had to be sold, he believes a move to the Barclays Premier League would be on the cards, and he stated his admiration for both Liverpool and Arsenal.
"In Spain they show many Barclays Premier League games on TV and it is an inspirational league," he added.
"Maybe I would like to play there. At the moment I'm here, I love living in Valencia and playing in the Spanish league, but in England the league is also top class and there are many big teams. Who knows? I admire Arsenal and the philosophy that the young players have. Liverpool, with their Spanish players - they also have an incredible squad."
