The Italian capital club began the season with Champions League ambitions, but by the time all was said and done in December they find themselves out of Europe and perilously close to the drop-zone.
Lotito is derided by much of the Biancoceleste fan base for being notoriously spend-thrift, but he has now suggested that Lazio will be one of the most active clubs in the January transfer window if that’s what his coach calls for.
“We will do whatever possible to improve the team regarding what the manager wants,” the Biancoceleste supremo insisted, before warning that the problems will not simply go away by throwing money at it.
“But the first thing for Lazio is to be aware of our possibilities. We were not weakened last summer, we have 28 competitive players.
“But we suffered a run of bad luck that was unexpected.” Lotito concluded by commenting on the plans to move out of the Stadio Olimpico, which have been shuffled around since the turn of the millennium.
“Let’s speak seriously about the new stadium,” he added. “If the city of Rome don’t give me a space I will be forced to build it outside the city.
“As I always said, a stadium has to live seven days a week and 365 days a year, not only for the games but for daily issues.”
