SIR ALEX FERGUSON believes his £20m bid for Samir Nasri will see him win the race to sign the Arsenal star.
The Manchester United boss faces competition from Chelsea and Manchester City for the French ace.
But Fergie remains the only boss to make a firm offer for the 24-year-old playmaker and will refuse to get involved in a bidding war with his richer rivals.
Reports that the Gunners have rejected United’s bid are wide of the mark, as are suggestions City are set to hijack Nasri’s move to Old Trafford.
As revealed in Starsport this week, United lodged their bid two weeks ago and Nasri has told Arsene Wenger he wants to join the Premier League champions.
Fergie is so relaxed about landing Nasri that he jetted to Scotland yesterday and joined friends to watch the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart near Inverness.
Fergie wants to strike a deal with the Gunners before Wenger’s men go on their summer tour of the Far East this weekend.
He has instructed chief executive David Gill to pull out all the stops to land Nasri as quickly as possible.
It would take United’s summer spending over the £70m mark as Fergie looks to improve his chances of winning another Premier League and Champions League title next season.
Wenger is reluctant to sell Nasri to one of his main rivals but knows he faces a losing battle.
