Red Devils vs Red Devils
THE Red Devils of tiny Crawley Town were in football heaven last night after drawing soccer's OTHER Red Devils - mighty Man United - in the FA Cup.
The Sun-sponsored team became the first non-league club in 17 years to reach the competition's fifth round.
And fans were ecstatic after the televised draw set up a dream tie against their illustrious nick-namesakes at Old Trafford next month.
West Sussex minnows Crawley, the Cup's last remaining non-league outfit, will face an array of football's top talent in a side worth hundreds of millions of pounds. But manager Steve Evans - who had said he WANTED United before the draw - predicted a possible upset.
He said: "Is there a bit in me that says we can beat them? Yes. It's a fraction of a bit, but there is a bit in there that believes that. To actually beat them would take something of miracle proportions. But miracles happen in life."
He added: "The Sun is the paper of football supporters and you backed us - we've got hundreds of thousands of readers behind us now.
"The draw was just a surreal moment, we got the tie that everyone in the country wants. It's going to be the biggest day in our lives." Blue Square Premier League Crawley have already dumped out Swindon, Torquay and Championship side Derby to reach the FA Cup's last 16. Utd legend Rio Ferdinand was one of the first to congratulate them on yesterday's draw.
The star who may line up against them, wrote on Twitter: "Gotta say this is why the buzz of the FA Cup can't be matched. Great draw for the fans and all concerned."
Crawley's Argentinian midfielder Sergio Torres led dressing room celebrations after Saturday's fourth round win at Torquay.
He and his team-mates clinched victory against the League Two side while sporting special Sun shorts.
