Yesterday was the second time that Samuel Eto’o had returned to the Camp Nou since his departure last summer. The Barca fans took the time to applaud him, even after the game was over. Due to his total dedication to the blaugrana, he’ll always be thought of fondly by most supporters. Speaking in the post-match press conference, Eto’o talked about his feelings during the game.
“We are in Madrid and rightfully so. We’ve got to congratulate Barcelona because they are still the best team in the world and they are faithful to their style; it’s a treat to watch them play but we played to our strengths and it worked out. The game seemed like it would never end and the fans were a ‘10′ with their team as well as with me.”
Speaking of his time at Barcelona, Eto’o said, “I’ll always love Barcelona because it’s the club that has given me the most during my career and I enjoyed playing with them the most but now Inter allows me to do it in another manner.”
Eto’o echoed what many in the world thought when the match-up was decided for the semi-finals. “The safe bet was that Barcelona would be in Madrid on May 22nd and not Inter but God has his reasons for making things turn out the way they do. Who would have thought that I’d end up playing in another Champions League Final after leaving Barcelona?”
