:pos2:

Btw, where the fuck is Пирло ? :))

10. Lillian Thuram
The most capped Frenchman in history left Monaco for Parma in 1996, helping them win undreamt honours, including the UEFA Cup and two domestic Cups. Snapped up by Juve in 2002, his classy contributions saw them win four titles and several Italian and international Super Cups. A tough uncompromising guardian who excelled at both centre-back and right-back.

9. Alessandro Nesta
An intelligent, elegant defender, who graduated through the Lazio academy to captain the club through its most successful era, winning a Scudetto and a Cup-Winners Cup along the way. Admired worldwide he moved to Milan for £25m in 2002 and proceeded to add to his long list of honours and trophies, including two Champions League wins, another Scudetto plus of course the World Cup.

8. Paolo Maldini
One of the world’s best full-backs and a true Milan legend. Over his 25 seasons he helped his beloved Rossoneri win seven Scudetti, five European Cups and 12 other international trophies. He made his Serie A debut in 1984 and retired last season with over 900 appearances to his name. In his honour Milan retired his No 3 shirt.

7. Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The enigmatic Swedish striker cost Juventus almost £13m from Ajax in 2004 and scored 23 goals over two seasons. However, with Juve’s relegation Ibracadabra angled for a move and Inter paid out almost £17m for him in 2006. Not only a scorer of great goals but a great goal scorer, Ibra’s amazing skills rocketed him to superstardom with Inter Coach Jose Mourinho calling him the best player in the world. Over the last summer he moved on once again, this time to Barcelona for a reported £69m fee.

6. Pavel Nedved
After almost 20 years at the top, the Czech left-sided midfielder retired last season. He left Sparta Prague in 1996 for Lazio and scored the Cup-Winners Cup’s last goal as Lazio beat Mallorca 2-1. In 2001 he moved to Juventus to replace the almost irreplaceable Zidane. However, the stylish midfielder proved up to the task and helped Juve to a run of four Serie A titles over the next five years.

5. Francesco Totti
Dripping pure class the Giallorossi talisman has it all, technical ability, skill and a vision to die for. Never actually won much with his hometown club, apart from a Scudetto of course, he is nonetheless absolutely worshipped by the red half of Rome. Can play anywhere up front, on his own, as part of an attacking trio or as a playmaker, where he excels and stands out head and shoulders above many of his contemporaries. The ultimate one club player.

4. Alessandro Del Piero
Probably one of Juve’s most successful players and certainly the most loved, the skillful forward arrived from Padova in 1993 and has been truly outstanding since day one. He is Juve’s all time top scorer and holder of the record amount of appearances. Under Coach Marcello Lippi, his magic inspired one of the club’s most successful spells, winning five Serie A titles between 1995 and 2003 along with the Champions League in 1996.

3. Andriy Shevchenko
During his first seven seasons with Milan, Sheva was the hottest hitman in the world. Leaving Dynamo Kiev in 1999 for a record fee of almost £20m, he became the first straniero to win the Capocannoniere crown in his debut season, with 24 goals in 32 games. He also scored the winning penalty as Milan won the Champions League in 2003 before leaving for Chelsea in 2006. The Ukrainian international scored a tremendous 127 goals in 208 games for the Italians.

2. Kaka
Although principally a midfielder the Brazilian ace scored some 70 goals over his six seasons in Serie A. Arriving from Sao Paulo in 2003, he immediately settled into the first team, helping Milan win the title in his debut term. Adored for his fancy football that always had an end product, his amazing skills have been recognized with dozens of individual awards. He left for Real Madrid last summer for over £50m.

1. Gianluigi Buffon
Easily the best ‘keeper on the whole planet, he started with Parma netting the headlines with his bravo show against Milan at just 17. Moved to Juventus in 2001 for a world record fee and was one of the reasons Italy won the World Cup – stupendous is not the word. Won Serie A’s best goalkeeper for seven seasons. Still on top of his game for both club and country and almost irreplaceable.

Serie A Team Of The Season

BEST XI

Formation: 3-4-3

Goalkeeper

Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus) – It has been a difficult season so far for Juventus, but things would have been even bleaker now had it not been for the heroics of Buffon. The Italy No.1 was back to his brilliant best in the first few months of the term with a string of match-winning displays for club-and-country. His form dipped a touch in December due to a meniscus problem that has since been operated on.

Defence

Alessandro Nesta (Milan) – If ever proof was needed as to just what a legend Nesta is, it arrived this season. Despite playing just 13 minutes all of last season due to injury, the 33-year-old has almost immediately returned to being the best defender in the world. How Italy need him at the World Cup!

Thiago Silva (Milan) – Milan’s promise this season has been built on the strength of Nesta’s centre half partnership with Thiago Silva. The Brazilian has enjoyed a wonderful start to Serie A life, and despite the odd mistake he looks like a real class act. A fine reader of the game, with pace, power, aerial ability and elegance – Thiago Silva could even usurp Juan as the first choice associate of Lucio for the Selecao at the World Cup.

Andrea Ranocchia (Bari) – The 21-year-old has been a breakout star in Serie A this season alongside fellow youngster Leonardo Bonucci, and has ensured that Bari have the second best defensive record in the top flight. Both defenders have been tipped for stardom, and the 6ft 5in Ranocchia has been linked to a host of top European clubs including Juventus and Manchester United.

Midfield

Douglas Maicon (Inter) – Maicon never fails to make Goal.com’s Team of the Season, and the buccaneering Brazilian has once again proved this term why he is the best right back in the world. Has been a key player as Inter opened up an eight-point lead at the top of the table, chipping in with three goals along the way including a memorable strike in the 4-0 thrashing of stadium rivals Milan.

David Pizarro (Roma) –
Roma’s impressive recovery following their miserable start to the season has been largely down to the brilliance of Pizarro in midfield. The little Chilean playmaker has been pulling all the strings, dictating games and sparking every Giallorosso attack.

Marek Hamsik (Napoli) – Quite probably the best young centre midfielder in Europe after Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas, Hamsik has been unstoppable this season for the Partenopei. The Slovakian has scored almost a third of his side’s goals, chipping in with eight strikes from 17 games. Would walk into any team, but Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is determined to keep hold of the starlet.

Javier Zanetti (Inter) – The epitome of consistency, Zanetti has been top class week-in, week-out for 14 years now in the Inter shirt and he is showing no signs of slowing down. Those slaloming runs are still a feature of Il Capitano, despite turning 36, and he hasn’t missed a single game at home or abroad – occupying positions at full back and in midfield.

Attack

Francesco Totti (Roma) – Despite a number of injury problems, Totti’s goalscoring record this campaign has been nothing short of phenomenal. Er Pupone has scored nine goals in 12 games in Serie A, and an incredible 11 goals in just six games in the Europa League. With 20 strikes in all competitions, Totti has already scored more times this season than in the whole of 2008-09.

Diego Milito (Inter) – El Principe has continued his goalscoring heroics with Genoa at Inter, and is the Nerazzurri’s top scorer this season with 10 goals in 15 games in Serie A. Has struck just once in the Champions League, but it was a crucial equaliser at Dynamo Kiev which paved the way for a dramatic late win. Prolific.

Juan Manuel Vargas (Fiorentina) –
Arguably the standout player in Italy this season along with Nesta. The Peruvian has scored three goals in Serie A from his attacking left midfield position, but it is in Europe where he has especially excelled. The 26-year-old was inspirational in Fiorentina’s progression into the Champions League knockouts, tormenting Liverpool home and away.

Buffon

Nesta – Thiago Silva – Ranocchia

Maicon - Pizarro – Hamsik - Zanetti

Totti - Milito – Vargas

Nesta – Thiago Silva – Ranocchia

Maicon - Pizarro – Hamsik - Zanetti

Totti - Milito – Vargas
