Lithuania's 100-90 victory over Serbia on the last game of Day 1 in Group E was the best offensive performance of a team at EuroBasket 2011, in several aspects.
It also provides us with a good chance to examine just how good Lithuania's offensive performance in this championship is so far.
There are some offensive statistical categories that aren't always positive, like "3 Pts Field Goals Attempted", or even the made shots that come with low accuracy.
So far, Lithuania combine not only great scoring numbers but, more impressively, they do so with the best accuracy.
Here's a summary of just how well the Lithuanian offense looked on Wednesday night against Serbia, and in general.
- Lithuania set a new scoring record at EuroBasket 2011 by reaching 100 points in the win over Serbia.
- Lithuania is the first team to score in triple digits.
- The second and third place for most points in a single game also belong to the host team. The teams ranked in 4th to 7th spots reached their high tallys only after overtime.
- Lithuania tops the championship with most Points per Game.
- They scored in 60% from the floor against Serbia, which is the third best performance in terms of shooting percentage in this championship.
- The hosts also hold the first and second spots in the same category thanks to great performances in the Preliminary Roun.
- Lithuania shot 55% from three-point range against Serbia, the sixth best 3-Pts Field Goal Percentage in a single game(tied with Russia).
- Lithuania also hold the top spots in the same category (against Portugal and Great Britain).
- Lithuania scored in 63% inside the arc, which makes "only" the Top10 in 2-Pts Field Goal Percentage.
- Lithuania do hold the best 2 Pts Field Goal Percentage in EuroBasket 2011 with no less than 78.4% in the win over Poland.
- Lithuania lead EuroBasket 2011 with 3 Pts Field Goal Percentage by shooting an amazing 50% from three point line as a team. The second best is Germany way behind with 39.6%.
- Lithuania also lead the tournament in 2 Pts Field Goal Percentage with 58.9%. The follow up, among the teams that are still playing, is Turkey with 55.4%.
- Lithuania also lead, as expected, the Field Goal Percentage ranking with 56.5% and stand way above the second - France who reached 50.1%. No other team makes over 50% from the floor.
- Lithuania, if it's not enough, also lead the tournament in assists with 20 per game.
- Lithuania didn't fall under 60% from the field at any point during the game. They had 65% after one quarter, 69% at the half time break and 61% after three quarters.
- Lithuania didn't drop from 61% inside the arc throughout the entire game. They had 67% after one quarter. 68% at the half time break and 61 after three quarters.
- Lithuania was on fire from the arc in the first three quarters. They hit three out of five in the first ten minutes, climbed to a huge seven in 10 at the break and entered the last quarter after scoring already 10 three pointers in 16 attempts (63%).
- Mantas Kalnietis scored five three pointers in this win and improved his record in FIBA Europe competitions by two made three-pointers. In club competitions with Zalgiris Kaunas, he's made five three-pointers in one game just once, and that game went to overtime.

Jonas Valančiūnas (born May 6, 1992) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player, currently playing for BC Lietuvos Rytas. He is a member of the Lithuanian national basketball team. Valančiūnas was selected by the Toronto Raptors with the fifth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.
Valančiūnas made his debut for the Lithuanian national basketball team in the 2008 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship in Italy. He dominated throughout the tournament, averaging 14.3 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 23.5 minutes of action. His team went on to win the gold medal and he was chosen as the MVP.[2]
Two years later, Valančiūnas led Lithuania to another gold medal. Lithuania dominated in the 2010 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship held in Lithuania. Valančiūnas averaged 19.4 points, 13.4 rebounds and 2.7 blocks, and was voted as the MVP.[3]
Valančiūnas was also a member of the Lithuanian Under-19 basketball team, which competed in the 2011 FIBA Under-19 World Championship in Latvia. He led his team to capture the gold medal, averaging 23.0 points, 13.9 rebounds and 3.2 blocks in 31 minutes of game action. He was later named the tournament MVP. Valančiūnas scored 36 points in the gold medal game against Serbia, which was the highest points scored in a game by any player in the tournament.[4] To this date he is the only player to achieve an MVP and Gold Medal in all of his FIBA U-tournaments.
He will participate in EuroBasket 2011, held in Lithuania from 31 August to 18 September. He debuted for the team against the Czech national basketball team, leading all players in scoring and rebounds with 26 points and 11 rebounds.
