Manchester United vs Valencia Player Ratings
Benjamin Amos
6.0
First touch of the game from the nervous youngster was a nervous goal-kick but he didn't do badly at all. Unfortunate that Hernandez's opener went through his legs.
Rafael Da Silva
7.0
The Brazilian right-back really looked like he was enjoying himself when he went forward and made some strong attacking runs to add to tenacious defending.
Nemanja Vidic
6.5
Strong performance from the United captain, particularly in the second half as he commanded the defence to see out the game.
Rio Ferdinand
6.0
The England captain hobbled off with a slight knock five minutes into the second half and United will hope the injury is not too serious. Has been tested by Valencia's movement up to that point.
Fabio Da Silva
6.0
Did not quite match his brother's performance on the other touchline but was assured in defence and tidy on the ball.
Nani
6.5
Full of invention and ideas but not his best performance of the season. Went close twice in the first half with efforts just wide of the post and always looked to attack his man. Replaced by Giggs nine minutes from time
Michael Carrick
6.0
Pondered on the ball and was robbed in possession in the build up to Valencia's goal but responded with an improved second half display as his passing started bright United attacks.
Anderson
7.0
Played with bundles of energy and was involved in much of the hosts' good work going forward. Scored a rare goal in the 62nd minute with a poacher's finish on the rebound from six yards out. Could have netted earlier in the game but produced a tame finish and also put Berbatov through on goal with a neat pass.
Ji-Sung Park
7.5
The South Korean midfielder is playing with bundles of confidence at the moment and drifted right across the pitch to pick up the ball in pockets of space and cause damage. Linked up very well with Berbatov and Rooney and curling shot from 25 yards forced United's goal.
Wayne Rooney
Top of the Match
8.0
Still not back to his scintillating best best the touch, the drive and the speed and all coming back. Denied a goal as his wonderful curling effort cannoned off the crossbar while he created clear chances for Berbatov, Anderson and Park.
Dimitar Berbatov
6.5
The Bulgarian did everything right until the most difficult part - putting the ball in the net. Produced some sumptuous touches and link up play but was continually thwarted by Guaita in the Valencia goal when he should have scored.
