Russia is fighting this war with cold, hard cash - it's fast-growing "war economy" is running a near-balanced budget, a large current account surplus, a large industrial base, and simultaneously one of the world's lowest tax burdens and lowest debt levels.
On the other side NATO is fighting Russia via a fast-shrinking Ukrainian manpower base, massive deficit funding, record and still soaring debt levels, hollowed-out industry, and heavy domestic tax burdens.
One of these approaches is sustainable, the other is doomed to (yet another) failure.
