22Jun 2013 Eastbourne, Great Britain
I wanted to write and update the blog already many days ago but I have been feeling so sick that I couldn't do it. I played my first round match in Eastbourne on Tuesday against Feliciano Lopez. I lost the match 7-6(3), 7-6(5). It was a high quality match, both of us served and played well. It's not often that I lose a match where my opponent doesn't get to deuce even once in my service games. Lopez just served so well that I couldn't break him in any stage. I had my only 2 break points (set points) in 6-5 in the first set but Lopez hit good serves which I didn't get back. Then in the tie-breaks he played a bit better.
It's obviously not nice at all to lose the first round match but at the same time I felt that there was not so much I could have done better. If Lopez serves like that (his first serve percentage was high, about 80 in the first set), it's extremely difficult to break him on grass. Apparently he has kept playing well because he hasn't dropped a set so far and he is playing finals there today. I knew already before the match that I'm in good shape, practices had gone well etc. I thought that if someone wants to beat me, he has to play really well, unfortunately Lopez did. In terms of a game it was a better match than for example any of my matches in Düsseldorf (where I played finals). In the end it's of course nicer to play for the title than have a first round exit.
Later the day I started to feel very sick, my temperature rose rapidly to 39,5 degrees. Next day I had the same temperature but then I started to vomit and got diarrhea. In the end I had to go to the hospital, things got that bad. Physically it was one of my worst days ever. Last couple of days have been rough but now there's a light in the end of the tunnel. I have told many times in the interviews that one big reason of playing well and solid this year is that I have stayed really healthy almost for two years. It has been great. After Paris I got this pain in the elbow and now I got really sick, these kind of things always cause problems and challenges, especially in this occupation but I hope that I can stay healthy again after this.
If I have been a little unlucky this week, at least I got lucky with the scheduling here in Wimbledon. Half of the draw plays on Monday and half on Tuesday, luckily I'm in the half which plays on Tuesday. I have one more day to get better. I'll play against Llodra. Doubles will be later the week. I play with Tursunov and our opponents are Bopanna/Roger-Vasselin.
И Оливие Рочус бил повреден а факт е дека го предаде мечот во квалификациите,значи сигурно има нешто.
