FA confirm they are investigating Steven Gerrard's clash with Michael Brown

Steven Gerrard could face a three-match ban after the FA confirmed they were investigating his alleged elbow on Michael Brown.
Referee Stuart Attwell appeared to have a good view of the off-the-ball clash during Liverpool's 4-1 win over Portsmouth at Anfield last night and spoke to both players after blowing for a foul.
But FA disciplinary chiefs want to know if Attwell actually saw Gerrard strike Brown on the back of the head with his right forearm.
If he didn't, the England star will be landed with a violent conduct charge and a three-game suspension.
An FA spokesman told MirrorFootball: "We need to establish what the referee gave the free-kick for. Whether it was for an element of what he saw or whether it was for the entirety of what we have all seen since on TV.
"We will be working on this basis and gathering the referee's report."
Gerrard, 29, escaped punishment for his foul-mouthed outburst and V-sign last week at Wigan when referee Andre Marriner ruled it had not been directed at him.
However he is sweating on the outcome of this FA probe and a three-match ban would seriously hit Liverpool's hopes of finishing fourth.

Steven Gerrard has escaped a disciplinary rap for the second week running after the FA confirmed they would not be taking any action over his elbow on Michael Brown.
FA disciplinary chiefs spoke to referee Stuart Attwell today and he confirmed he did see the incident and dealt with it at the time.
Attwell blew for a free-kick and spoke to both Gerrard and Portsmouth midfielder Brown during Liverpool's 4-1 win at Anfield last night.
Brown was furious at being clobbered on the back of the head by the Reds midfielder and was seen to mouth "three-game ban".
It is the second let-off for Gerrard in seven days after he also got away with his foul-mouthed outburst and V-sign during Liverpool's defeat at Wigan when referee Andre Marriner ruled they were not aimed at him.
Rafa Benitez was confident his skipper would be let off and will be relieved he is free to face Manchester United on Sunday after the threat of a three-match ban was lifted.

:smir:No FA action against Gerrard
The Football Association will not be taking any action against Liverpool's Steven Gerrard following his clash with Portsmouth's Michael Brown.
Gerrard collided with Brown late on when it appeared he used his forearm, which connected with the Pompey man.
The Liverpool skipper could have been in danger of picking up a violent conduct charge from the FA, if referee Stuart Attwell reported that he had not seen the incident.
But Attwell did see the incident and spoke with Gerrard, so as such the FA cannot take any action against him.

:smir:
