The Players’ Association has called off the strike set for this weekend after negotiations with the Lega Serie A.
The games for September 25 and 26 had been held hostage to a strike threat from the AIC (Italian Players’ Association).
It was a protest against the proposed changes to the collective bargaining contract between clubs and players.
Emergency negotiations were held today and seem to have done the trick at least to a degree, enough to call off the strike.
However, the matter is not entirely resolved, as there still need to be talks to reach an agreement on the collective bargaining contract.
The AIC and Lega (the union of every Serie A club) have set a deadline of November 30 to agree a deal.
