The short trip through Macedonia

Hello!
I and my family had a some good days in Macedonia this summer.
I found many information in this website and I’m very thankful to makedonka 1985 for her story about Matka cave and waterfalls, Galeb for Prespa and Asid for his story about Kuklica, Asid, kultuzin and Macedonicus for their advices.
So I will tell about our short trip through Macedonia, maybe it will be helpful for somebody.
Sorry for my bad English.

First day
We crossed the Macedonian border (Tabanovce/E-75) after midday and went to Matka canyon.
I don’t want to tell about canyon because there is the better story about it on this forum.

Frankly speaking it wasn’t difficult to find Matka canyon but I think it will be better if I tell the GPS coordinate.

We went to Ohrid lake after canyon and swam in lake some hours later.
There was crystal clean and warm water in Ohrid

We stayed at night in very beautiful villa in Dihovo.

We had a plan to go to Pelister (41.002703, 21.183958) by car. Surely I very like to go to mountain by step but when I know that there is a road to Pelister and Golemo lake (40.969724, 21.205244) I decided to go by my car because off-road car it is also my hobby.
This is Pelister, look from our villa.

Our way

That we can go to Pelister National park by car we must get the permission. And we can get it in hotel Molika near entrance in national park.
So we get the permission and went to Pelister.

The first part of road was very easy, but some kilometers later…

That trip we didn’t lift to Pelister by car because we haven’t time enough but we will go next year.
We came back home through Macedonia two weeks later

and we saw wonderful waterfall in Koleshino

and Gabrovo waterfall

We had only three days in Macedonia and we saw this wonderful country.

We plan to return next year and will see Prespa, Kuklica, town Ohrid, monastery of Sv.Joakim Osogovski, Korab and many other places.

I went through Macedonia twice before this trip in 2009, but I haven’t time to see your country.
And I’m very satisfied that I had time this year. Surely I will go to Macedonia next year with my family and friends.

Very beautiful pictures. And I'm glad you like Macedonia. I still haven't seen all the places you visited (the lake at Pelister and the waterfalls in Koleshino), but maybe I will next year. I plan to invite a friend from Poland to show him the nature and the old architecture in Macedonia, so maybe Pelister would be a good idea

We went 5275 km by car during our summer holidays and this some kilometers ( in Pelister National park) was the best for me.

Thank for the invitation, as I now there is ski area in Mavrovo. All my family very like ski, but we have plans for next winter holidays already.

I am glad you visited Baba and Golemo ezero, next time you visit Macedonia and Bitola, make sure you go to the `top` Pelister, but that time on foot, through the forest - it`s really something special!Visit its Prespa side, the villages underneath and the Galicica mountain and the region on the opposite side, on the way to Ohrid lake.

Thank, I read about observatory in Kokino. It’s not far from Kuklica.
I have plan to visit Kuklica next year and it will be great to visit observatory

I have one question. Can I pitch a tent and stay at night in Pelister National park?

That is usually not a problem. But this year, in fact few weeks ago, due to the many horifying fires that occurred in the National Park, moving through the National park(it was the case in whole country in fact) was forbidden from 5pm to 7am, for a certain period. It was the first time that i know, that such a warning was issued!
I hope and believe that things like that will never happen anymore!
