FIORENTINA
Sebastien Frey - 7 - Will not have had many easier halves of football than the first, but Liverpool livened up after the break, and the Frenchman was up to the test.
Gianluca Comotto - 7 - Not as adventurous as his opposite full-back; his job was to give the ball to the lively Marchionni. Was tested more in the second half but stood firm.
Dario Dainelli - 7 - Coped excellently with Torres' pace, and marshalled his backline well.
Alessandro Gamberini - 8 - Pacy, assured and committed, he bossed Torres.
Massimo Gobbi - 7 - Full of pace, and handled both Kuyt & Benayoun admirably, though looked susceptible in the air.
Riccardo Montolivo - 7.5 - Sprayed the ball around the park, and was always in Liverpool players' faces. Faded towards the end but an assured performance.
Cristiano Zanetti - 8 - Created the opener for Jovetic with a slide-rule pass and showed his big-game experience throughout.
Juan Vargas - 7 - Tested Reina with a piledriver before his strike allowed Jovetic to make it 2-0 and stymied the forward raids of Johnson with his pace and power.
Marco Marchionni - 7.5 - Lively throughout, and gave Insua a torrid time. Final ball was lacking at times but he was always a threat.
Stevan Jovetic - 9 - A class apart, took his goals superbly and was the driving force behind Fiorentina throughout. Movement between the lines confused the Reds defence and he looks a class act. As predicted on these pages.
Adrian Mutu - 6 - His movement kept Liverpool busy, but he rarely threatened and was shackled pretty well.
