Washington Takes President Putin’s Nuclear Statements Seriously - White House
Though the Biden administration takes the Russian president’s statements seriously it sees no need to increase the readiness of its strategic deterrence forces, a WH statement said.
Meanwhile the UK Foreign Secretary has addressed Putin’s earlier comments, saying it has never tried to encroach on Russian territorial integrity - but will continue to support Kiev.
West Reacts To Russia’s Partial Mobilization Announcement
Several EU countries and NATO have addressed the plans:
The UK Foreign Office said the move would escalate the Ukraine conflict
German Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck called it “another wrong step from Russia”
Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said Europe "must not add fuel to the fire"
His Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte called the partial mobilization “a sign of panic”
The Latvian Foreign Ministry announced it would not issue visas to those avoiding mobilization
NATO’s Secretary General said the conflict in Ukraine must “end at the negotiating table”
Nobody Can ‘Cancel’ Russia’s Unique Civilization and Culture – Putin
The Russian president said it is very dangerous for the country to abandon its national interests.
He added that mistakes the country made in the past will not happen again.
