Arsenal are exploring the opportunity to sign Lautaro Martinez — with Inter continuing to adjust to a more sustainable financial model over this window.
A move has previously been considered unrealistic but The Athletic understands Arsenal have long held Lautaro in high regard. With the north London club and Inter Milan in contact about a prospective deal for Hector Bellerin, sources indicate that Arsenal have enquired about Lautaro’s availability.
It is thought Lautaro would be interested in a move to Arsenal if Inter want to sell him. Sources state Tottenham have also been mentioned in relation to Lautaro but only as a contingency option if Harry Kane leaves.
An Arsenal move for Lautaro may be reliant on the departure of Alexandre Lacazette. It is believed his name has been mentioned to Inter but they are thought to only want cash.
An exit from Inter would level up Lautaro’s salary. He is believed to earn around €2.5 million per annum net in wages while Romelu Lukaku, Christian Eriksen and Alexis Sanchez all make more than double that. As a Scudetto and Copa America winner, his salary was up for review, particularly with Barcelona expressing firm interest 18 months ago.
The Argentina international had previously agreed a new contract with Inter under his previous agency but the club could not sign off on it until they had concluded negotiations over financing. Lautaro then changed agents in April and contract talks had to start again. A move to Arsenal would, it is understood, see him increase his salary. They have also been pitching a new project to prospective signings this summer.

Arsenal were not expecting Lautaro to be on the market this summer, especially at such a reasonable price point, but Inter need to sell players this summer despite securing €50 million as a cash injection from Oaktree Capital in May. They still have to run a tighter ship and while they sold Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain, that is only one part of their efforts to bring running costs down by 15 to 20 per cent. They are stable this summer due to the refinancing package, which is worth a total of €275 million.
The Serie A champions have to finish the window with a net transfer profit of around €80 million. While star striker Lukaku is of interest to Chelsea, he is the last player Inter want to sell.
Arsenal had a plan entering the window but there has always been an acceptance that in a volatile market, unexpected opportunities may present themselves. This is one such case.
They have long been considering options at No 9 but an addition has always been somewhat contingent on departures. That would almost certainly be Eddie Nketiah and possibly Lacazette.
They have tracked Alexander Isak but he has signed a new contract with Real Sociedad. Tammy Abraham is another name under consideration.
Sources have indicated, though, that Lautaro would be a simple deal for Arsenal in terms of negotiating with his club. Inter just need an acceptable offer on the table for a deal to be done.
Lautaro has starred for Inter since joining them as a 20-year-old from Racing Club in his native Argentina. Lautaro quickly became a first-team regular as Mauro Icardi fell out with the club hierarchy, but only managed six league goals in his debut campaign.
It was at the start of his second season in Italy when things started to click for Lautaro. The arrivals of Antonio Conte and Lukaku triggered a change in system for Inter, and his emergence as a force in Serie A.
The “LuLa” partnership was born and Lautaro hit 21 goals across all competitions as Inter finished just a point behind Juventus in the race for the Scudetto. Lautaro impressed with his intelligence, as well as his pace and dribbling ability, and appeared to have few weaknesses in his all-round game despite his young age.
Such was the nature of his performances that an almost inevitable transfer saga involving Barcelona came and went in the summer of 2020, with Lautaro ultimately remaining in Italy.
He continued to blossom in the season just gone, notching 17 Serie A goals as Inter claimed their first league title for over a decade. A Copa America win with Argentina followed, with Lautaro — now a prominent figurehead in his national side — scoring three goals en route to a tournament victory.

Орнстеин не се потпишува ако нема вистина во ова, ама далеку од тоа дека сигурно ќе го купат.
Мене не ми е јасно од каде толкава сума пари за трансфери кај нас кога никој не може да закрпи крај со крај...

Зошто Лаутаро би дошол во Арсенал кога со Интер ќе игра ЛШ? Веќе ако прави трансфер некаде, не верувам дека ќе го одбере Арсенал. Инаку има некои други шпекулации освен ова за Лаутаро?

Од тие причини што ги пишсв погоре, ретко кој клуб има пари за трансфери, на прсти се бројат и изгледа нема друг заинтересиран, а Интер мора да продава.

Еден период се споменуваше дека Барса била заинтересирана за него. Инаку се сомневам дека ќе одвојат толку пари за Лаутаро.

Интер мораше да продава.
Исто и не ми е баш веројатно Арсенал да е единствениот заинтересиран клуб за Лаутаро доколку стварно би идел овој на продажба, а и Интер не верувам дека би го пуштил за мала сума, сепак огин играч е а е многу млад.
Околу тоа дали Лаутаро би прифатил/би го избрал Арсенал не навлагам. Мене ми се свиѓа каков проект има Арсенал со подмладувањето и дефинитивно млад добар шпиц одлично ќе се вклопи. Само јас не би се надевал на Лаутаро баш.

Да лани Барса го бараше ама годинава нема пари да да плати струја изгледа не па да купува играчи, сѐ што зедоа беше на free.

Па кој и да е друг клуб зљинтересиран ако игра во ЛШ логично дека ќе ги одбере нив ама поентата е дека Интер сигурно ќе го продаде, мораат како што кажавме.
