Dessa única tribo o nome espalhou-se para incluir o resto do país como Arbri e, finalmente Albânia. Estudiosos não puderam determinar a origem do nome "Shqipëria", com o qual os albaneses denominam sua terra. Ptolemy of Alexandria quotes, already in the Century II AD, the tribe of Albanoi ", today's inhabitants central Albania. Only the name of that tribe spread to include the rest of the country as Arbri and finally Albania. Scholars could not determine the origin of the name "Shqiperia", with which the Albanians call their land. Believe that it is derived from "shqipe" or "eagle" that was changed from "shqipria" which means "the land of the eagle."

The name arbëresci (arvanitas) that comes from the name ethnic Arber-ESH (Arben-ESH in the northern dialect) comes from Arber, the former name of Albania, which has its origins in the name of a tribe Illyria, the Albanoi, mentioned by Ptolemy in its geography, in the second century AD.

Arbor
The questing word maven might think that arbour or arbor derived from arbor Latin ‘tree,’ but it does not. It too is an herbal grandchild, stemming from Old French herbier ‘herb garden’ and transforming down through the years via these way-station forms: herber> erber > arber > arbor > arbour. After this word had begun to be spelled arber, the Latin word for tree arbor, also used in English (e.g. America's ‘Arbor Day’ to celebrate tree planting) began to influence how arber was spelled. In linguistic study, this orthographical influence is sometimes termed attraction.

Pliny mentions a people termed Albonenses among the fourteen petty tribes of the Liburni

Ptolemy in Book 5 chapter 15 titled "Location of Illyria or Liburnia, and of Dalmatia" (The Fifth Map of Europe) Never mentions the alleged "ALBANOPOLIS" that they support he has, and can be found at 46 degrees and 41 degrees 45', but when you look up what he really has writen, you find the city of Thermidava.

Ptolemy's Goegraphy can be found at : HERE

The Apostle Bartholomew is reported to have labored in the area around the south end of the Caspian Sea, in the section that was then called Armenia. The modern name of the district where he died is Azerbaijan and the place of his death, called in New Testament times Albanopolis, is now Derbend which is on the west coast of the Caspian Sea. The apostle Bartholomew is said to have been martyred in the year 68 AD.

Probable etymology of Illyria:
Root / lemma: ai̯os- : `metal (copper; iron)' derived from Root / lemma: eis-1 : `to move rapidly, *weapon, iron' as Aɫas(ja), the old name of Cyprus : Hittite PN Wilusa (gr. reading Ilios) [phonetic mutation of the old laryngeal he- > a-, i-]: gall. Isarno- PN, ven. FlN 'Iσάρας, later Īsarcus, nhd. Eisack (Tirol); urir. PN I(s)aros, air. Īär, balkanillyr. iser, messap. isareti (Krahe IF. 46, 184 f.); kelt. FlN Isarā, nhd. Isar, Iser, frz. Isère; *Isiā, frz. Oise; *Isurā, engl. Ure, usw. (Pokorny Urillyrier 114 f., 161); nhd. FlN Ill, Illach, Iller, lett. FlN Isline, Islīcis, wruss. Isɫa, alb. VN Illyrii.
Posle nesto drugo

Here also the Illyrian people's-name Kšrkurej (cf. I–llurej); from there the name of the island? (Schwyzer 66). Acc. to Mayer KZ 70, 76ff. prop. the "oak-island", from the Illyr. word for `oak' to Lat. quercus, Goth. fairguni `mountain' etc. Other combinations in Specht Sprache 1, 40f.
