What information can the Chinese side share about the incident and what actions is China taking in response to ensure the safety of its ships and crew operating in the region?

Lin Jian: Based on the information we have at this moment, the tanker in question is sailing under the flag of the Marshall Islands with Chinese crew onboard. The vessel has not reported any crew casualties. The Strait of Hormuz is a strait for international navigation. China is deeply concerned that a large number of vessels along with their crew have been caught in the conflict and stranded in the strait. We believe it is in the common interest of regional countries and the international community to resume unimpeded passage through the strait as soon as possible and ensure the safety of civilian vessels and crew members. We call for concrete steps from relevant parties to prevent deterioration of the situation. China stands ready to work together with the international community and make sustained efforts to promote peace talks and deescalation.
