Moscow and the Moscow region faced one of the largest drone attacks since the war began. TV channels spent about a minute reporting on it.Over the past day, Moscow was attacked by more than 120 drones, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported. In the capital and the Moscow region, drones damaged at least three apartment buildings, killing three people and injuring another 17. In terms of consequences, the attack was comparable to the raid on Moscow in March last year, which also claimed three lives and injured 18 residents of the Moscow region.Details. According to posts on Sobyanin's Telegram channel, drones began attacking the capital from Friday evening. At 6 a.m. on Sunday, Sobyanin reported that more than 120 drones had attacked the capital over the past day. When drones fell near the gatehouse of the Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya, 12 construction workers from a shift were injured, Sobyanin wrote. The official said three houses were also damaged, but the plant's operations were not disrupted. One of the drones crashed into a building on Mikhailova Street.Three people were killed in the Moscow region—a woman in a private home in Khimki and a man and woman in a construction site home in Mytishchi—wrote Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov. In Khimki, one more person was trapped under rubble, and four others were injured as a result of drones falling in Istra. Drones also crashed into homes in Khimki and Krasnogorsk.UAV crashes caused fires at the Solnechnogorsk pumping station and in the Elma technopark in Zelenograd. Drone debris also fell on the territory of Sheremetyevo Airport overnight into Sunday. After the attack, the Mega shopping center in Khimki announced a temporary closure "for technical reasons."The crash site of one UAV into a private home near Mytishchi is less than 1.4 km from the position of the Tor-2M air defense system, wrote Radio Liberty journalist Mark Krutov. According to Krutov's analysis, one of the Pantsir systems shot down the drone that fell in Zelenograd. The raid on Moscow led to disruptions in airport operations. According to the Ministry of Transport, 32 flights were delayed for departure, and 51 were diverted to alternate airfields. Meanwhile, according to Sheremetyevo's online board, more than 200 flights were delayed or canceled.Propaganda downplays the event. On Channel One, Rossiya-1, and NTV, at the start of broadcasts, anchors spent about a minute covering the event, presenting it as just having happened. In reality, there was plenty of time to prepare full reports. In the 12 p.m. broadcast, Channel One reported that Russia had already delivered a "response" to the attacks. "The Ukrainian Armed Forces' infrastructure is in flames," the broadcast began, while the screen showed the title "Response to Attacks." "In response to Kyiv's terrorist attacks, our army is destroying military facilities in Ukraine's rear areas."TASS wrote that a larger attack on the capital region in terms of the number of drones occurred in March 2025. Then Sobyanin reported that "74 UAVs were shot down on approach to Moscow, and hundreds of combat drones in total at various lines." However, the Russian Defense Ministry's statement did not indicate that all these drones were heading to Moscow. The military then reported the destruction of 91 UAVs over the Moscow region, with a total of 331 drones intercepted. If comparing by the number of deaths, this attack is comparable to the one in March last year. The commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' unmanned systems forces, Robert Brovdi, published a photo of a drone with the inscription "Moscow never sleeps" on Sunday and wrote that "the one-way pass to a quiet life on the Patriarchs has been canceled."Ukraine launched more drones. In total overnight, according to the Russian Defense Ministry's summary, 556 Ukrainian drones were shot down. This is likely the largest number of drones—in the night of March 25, 389 UAVs were shot down.Russia attacked Ukraine with 287 drones overnight. In Dnipropetrovsk region, eight people were injured as a result of Russian strikes.Context. Ukrainian shelling in early May worried Russians more for the first time since the war began than the front lines. According to a poll by the Public Opinion Foundation, 18% of Russians named Ukrainian shelling as the most important topic of the past week. 16% of respondents named the "SVO" topic as the main one.

Ukrainian long-range drones destroyed all four RVS-5000 oil tanks at the oil transshipment station Solnechnogorsk in the Moscow region.
