To turn off the keypad tone, slide tone and power on/off tone TOGETHER, press down volume-keys on the left side of the phone till zero, from the MAIN SCREEN. This is the quickest, and is the right method, if you want to keep ‘Theme’ as the dialing display font.

Also you can turn off (or change) keypad tones (menu 9-4-2) power on/off tone (menu 9-4-4) and slide tone (menu 9-4-5) independently. Thereafter, pressing volume key will not affect the corresponding tone.

If the keypad tone menu in your phone is INACTIVE, go to display settings…dialing display…font type and change ‘theme’ to ‘normal’. Then go back to keypad tone menu to turn off/change tone.

GENERAL SHORTCUTS: ØPress ‘c’ to delete anything- message, contact, memo or any file. (to delete a contact, ‘view’ and press ‘c’)

ØWhile using browser, use volume keys to scroll page wise, and up/down navigation keys to scroll line wise.

SPECIAL FEATURES
1. LIVING WORLD (THEME) WALLPAPER (uGo)- The wallpaper is a picture of an important landmark of the country in which you are.(House of parliament for UK, Tower of Kolalampur for Malaysia)with animations like birds flying etc. When you reach another country, the wallpaper changes accordingly. It probably uses the operator signals for this. When night falls, night falls in the wallpaper too! There are animations separately for day and night. When a missed call or new message is there, the animation changes, like, aeroplanes in the day and fireworks at night. When the signal is weak, sky is cloudy and if signal is strong, sky is clear. If no signal(or offline mode) there is another picture like grassy field.
The wallpaper speaks!
(Menu 9-3-1).

2. uMenu- A personalised menu of shortcuts. U Menu has two parts. The 'My Menu' shows up on pressing "up' navigation key, it has upto 5 shortcuts of your favourite functions, can be selected from a list of options. This part is not a unique feature of Samsung, seen in other makes also. The unique and more intelligent part is the 'Advanced Shortcuts'. For example, type 1203 in idle mode. Press 'Down' navigation key and calculator starts with 1203 on its screen! Press 'Up' key and alarm menu opens with set time 12:03(AM/PM). Press 'right' key and a calendar entry can be made on 12/03/2007. Press 'left', the write-message screen appears and the sms will be sent to 1203, (if it is valid). Come back to main screen at any time and 1203 remains there, ready for another operation. Intelligent! This resembles uSearch function in X820 and P310.
(Menu 9-2-5 & 9-2-6) How to activate; see Tip 16.

3. VIVID MESSAGES- Preset words in text messages are replaced by animations. The text becomes colourful and you needn't scroll for viewing- they are 'played'! With the confirm key you can play/stop.
(Menu 5-5-1-2)

4. MP4 VIDEO RECORDING- Many other leading models can play MP4 videos but they record in 3GP (low quality). D900, like many other Samsung phones, can record video in mp4 (3GP also)

5. VIDEO CALLER ID- you can record a video and assign to a phonebook entry so that when incoming call from the contact comes, the video is displayed.

6. REJECT SMS- you can reject an incoming call by pressing and holding the side-volume-key (while in a meeting etc). When you do so, a preset text message(created earlier by you)is sent to the caller for explanation, and of course, with your conformation. You can set the function as reject with/without the sms and alternatively to mute the tone when it rings.

7. SOS MESSAGE- If this is active, when you press the volume key 4 times, an emergency message is sent to 10 preset numbers. If any of these numbers calls back, the phone automatically connects without waiting for you to press the green key. All the operations are done silently with vibration. Useful in an emergency.
(Menu 5-6)

8. MOBILE TRACKER (uTrack)- A useful application for retrieving a lost/stolen phone. For details visit:

TIPS&SHORTCUTS
1. The default password of the phone is 00000000(eight zeroes) for all purposes. You can change this at menu…settings…security.

2. Searching contacts by first name & last name: In this mode, there is a separate box for first name and last name. Enter FIRST LETTERS of first name and last name and all contacts with that combination will be listed. For changing to normal search mode, go to menu…phonebook …management…’search’ and turn it off. For e.g., to search Isaac Newton, enter I,s,a,a….with search function off and enter I and N with search function on.

3. How to view either sim contacts or phone contacts alone: If you enter contact list using shortcut – pressing right soft key, all the contacts in phone and sim are viewed together in alphabetic order. To view phone contacts alone, press ‘menu’ ‘2’ ‘8’ ‘6’ and ok/I button or press ‘menu’ ‘9’ ‘8’ ‘5’ and ok/I button. For viewing sim contacts only, press menu-2-8-6 or menu-9-8-5 , scroll down to ‘sim’ and press ok/i. (Note: If the menu shortcut numbers are different in your version of the phone, go to menu..phonebook..memory status and press ok)

4. How to save/dial extension phone numbers: Type the main number. Press and hold ‘*’ key. This will introduce a pause of approximately 2 seconds. Then type the extension numbers. Then save or dial.
For example if you want to dial 1234567 and then extension-1234, type 1234567, press &hold * then type 1234. You'll see 1234567P1234. Dial it. 1234567 will be dialed first, and 2 seconds after answering, 1234 will be dialed. If you want to set a delay of 6 seconds, press & hold * three times-1234567PPP1234. After a few trials, you can set the required time delay correctly.

5. How to set more speed dial shortcuts: You already know how to use and manage the speed dials in phonebook. But you are limited to only 8 speed dials. If you want, you can have more shortcuts. But if the contact you want is stored in phone, you should make a copy of it in sim also.(This is only for shortcut creation and will not affect features like caller id etc of original entry) Select the contact, view, then from options, ‘copy to sim’. NOTE DOWN THE LOCATION number before saving. After saving, come back to main screen. If the location was (for example,)7, then press 7# and dial(green) button to call. If you want to copy a contact ‘Peter’ to a LOCATION OF YOUR CHOICE, say, to location 2, first press 2# to check whether an entry already exists there. If exists, select that contact from PHONEBOOK, and select copy to ‘sim’. It will be copied to first available location. Then select ‘Peter’, and from options, copy to sim, edit location as 2 and save(Yes to overwrite conformation).
Viewing sim contacts together : see Tip 3

6. How to block incoming calls from a number: Go to call log (from menu or pressing green button). From options, find ‘Reject List’ and add the numbers you want. You can add upto 10 numbers at a time. (If you have more than 10 enemies in the world, Samsung is yet to make phones for tough guys, like you
image005.gif
)

7. How to block text messages from a number: Go to menu…messages…settings…text messages…block number and enter the number/contact. (Or select ‘block number’ from inbox options.) You can block up to 10 numbers. You need to block either sms or mms only and both will be blocked.

8. How to enter/exit predictive text input(T9): Select ‘create messages’, then press&hold * to switch between T9 and ABC mode. Press * to switch between upper case(ABC), lower case(abc), sentence case(Abc) and number mode(123). Once you select T9 or ABC mode, the phone remembers that setting for ever. Every time, the ‘create message’ window opens in the mode in which you left it last time.

9. How to save/send a message quickly: After creating a message, to send only, press ok/i button. To save and send, press options and 2 - it will be saved in sentbox. To save only in 'Drafts' folder, press right soft key (back) and left soft key (yes). If advanced shortcuts is turned on, press RED button instead of right soft key.(But once you SEND a message stored in drafts, it disappears from there). To save a message permanently, save in 'my folder' from options.

10. How to sort messages in the alphabetic order of CONTENT: Select inbox or any folder in my messages. From options, select ‘List by > subject’. Messages will be sorted in alphabetic order of content. If any message starts with a blank space, that will come first. Then symbols, numbers and A,B,C,D…. For sorting in the reverse order, do this once more. This helps to find out a message easily. There are many other sort options also.

11. To hear music while, multitasking: Open music player from ‘Applications’ , go to options…settings…"music overrides other sounds" , select ‘ON’. You can hear music while you- 1.browse the menu, in general 2.view/edit contacts/call log 3.view/create messages 4.use the wap browser 5.view images in downloaded/favourite image folders& memory card 6.view documents using picsel file viewer, 7.check memory 8.use calendar/worldclock/calculator/convertor/timer/stopwatch 9.use bluetooth to send/receive ANY file in any folder 10.play java games
And music player will not work when you- 1.take photos 2.record videos 3.record voice 3.view images in 'my photos' 4.edit images 5.play another sound or music file.
When you select each of the above functions, the music player stops TEMPORARILY. It restarts when you close the above application.

12. Conversation recording: In some versions, this feature is included. So while making a call, select options and check whether it is there in the list. If not, you can try this method:
When the conversation starts, type #*22671#. A message will announce recording started. Press 'c' to exit. To stop recording type #*22672#. To pause, #*22673# and to restart #*22674#. Then go to my files...sounds..my voice clips to find the saved conversation.
NOTES:
1.enter the digits carefully.
2.DON'T FORGET TO TYPE #*22672# after conversation, or it will continue recording!!
3. I needn't say, we must use this legally.

. Calendar shortcuts: While viewing calendar, press side(volume) keys to change month. If you want to go to a particular date, no need to go, options…go to…date etc. Just TYPE the date you want, while viewing calendar! (How’s that? J)

14. Sending any photo via mms: Only, photos with size 640x480 or less are suitable for mms. If you select a photo with resolution greater than 640x480, a message ‘media may not be correctly displayed….’ may be displayed. To avoid this, if you want a larger photo to be sent, resize it to 640x480. To resize, select EDIT from options. The photo will be opened in image editor. From options, select ‘SAVE AS’. Save, and the image is resized. Now you can select it from ‘My photos’ and can easily send it via mms. Downloaded images cannot be edited. So you will have to select a downloaded image not greater than 640x480.

15. Sending video via mms: Videos larger than 176x144 may not be displayed correctly. Also mp4 videos within maximum mms size, may be too short. The best option is to select recording mode ‘Limit for mms’ , the recorder will automatically stop when the file size exceeds the maximum limit.

16. Advanced shortcuts: (To know more about this, refer uMenu in ‘special features’ part of this document) To activate this, go to menu…settings…phone settings…advanced settings and select ‘on’ or to change options, press navigation keys. But before that, you should go to display settings…dialing display…FONT TYPE, and change ‘theme’ to NORMAL. Otherwise advanced shortcut option will remain inactive.

17. Random wallpaper: Each time you come back to main screen from a menu function, the wallpaper changes! To select this, settings…display settings…wallpaper, change ‘theme’ to ‘normal’, then from the wallpaper list, select ‘Random’.

18. How to set downloaded images as FULL SCREEN wallpapers: Any downloaded image with width and height in the ratio 3:4 from 240x320, upto 1152x1536 can be set as full screen wallpaper.Example; 240x320, 300x400, 480x640, 600x800, 768x1024….upto 1152X1536 (but not those with 320x240, 640x480, 400x300….etc). Photos with other sizes, you have to resize them into 240x320 using PC studio or a suitable image editor. Portrait type (vertical) images are suitable for such resizing. Landscape photos may be much distorted while converting to 240x320. (You may crop the required part of the landscape image to 240x320.) If you resize a smaller image to 240x320, quality will be reduced.
If you want to verify yourself, download this photo with size 240x320, this photo with size 300x400 and this one with size 560x747, all of these will fit full screen as wallpaper in your phone. (Copy to downloaded images, then from options, select ‘set as wallpaper’.) Get More Images
How to crop images to 240x320: Though I am not professional in image editing, I can tell you a simple method to crop images using irfanview software (Click for free download). Open irfanview. Press ‘O’ to open the file. Press Ctrl+R. In the resize window select these:- ‘set new size’, unit-‘pixels’, ‘preserve aspect ratio’, size method-‘resample better quality’. (these are the defaults) Assuming that it is a landscape image(width more than height), in the ‘height’ column, enter a value slightly greater than 320, that is 324 or 325 etc. Then press ok.
When the image is resized, press Shift+C. In the ‘create custom selection’ window, select 3:4. On the right side, select ‘pixels’ and in the ‘width’ box, enter 240. The height value changes to 320 automatically. Click ‘apply to image’. The crop selection box appears on the image. Don’t click on it normally. Only Right-click. Right-click and drag to the part to be cropped. (The part of picture inside this frame is going to be the wallpaper image) Take care to see that only image part is enclosed by the box. The background black screen should not go into it. When selected, press Ctrl+Y and you have a 240x320 image on the screen. Click on the i symbol among the toolbar icons to verify the current size is 240x320. Then press ‘S’ to save as...

19. How to remove operator name/numbers from the main display: For this, the wallpaper should be in ‘normal’ mode(display settings…wallpaper…normal). Go to display settings…text display …text position and select ‘off’.

20. How to access memory card data in the PC: Memory card data cannot be accessed through pc studio. For viewing card data, connect phone and pc using data cable. In phone, settings…phone settings…USB settings, and select ‘mass storage’. The memory card data will be shown as a removable disk in ‘My Computer’. On removing the cable, the USB setting comes back to ‘Modem’.

21. How to make the phone vibrate and ring together: Find this option in settings…sound settings…incoming call…alert type.

22. How to view full screen photos&videos: find this in General shortcuts.
23. How to fast forward or rewind music or video while playing: Press and hold left/right navigation keys.

24. How to use ‘search’ function in picsel file viewer: Open the text document. From options, select ‘start searching’, enter the text to be searched in the search box. Save and then press 3 to FIND NEXT. Press 1 to find previous.

25. How to remove the battery cover easily: You may find it hard, if you try to push up the cover normally. Now try this: hold the phone UPSIDE DOWN. Support your thumb against the top of the Phone (i.e., earpiece/camera end). Place all other fingers on the battery cover, press down and slide.
Now download this video demonstration and see yourself.

26. How to install java through USB data cable: To install large java applications or if your connection is not wap enabled, you can install java through data cable. You can get instructions for this at http://phonetutorials.tk. Follow the instructions exactly. After every installation, remember to type #*536961# on the phone and to CLEAR the APN field of network settings in Java.

27. How to hide selected images/videos in memory card: Find it here.

28. How to turn off keypad tones : Find it here.

29. Selecting video size: This can record videos in CIF(352X288), QVGA(320X240) & QCIF(176X144) sizes. The video will best-fit in the phone screen in size 320x240 and this is the most suitable size for viewing in computer also. But if you like to watch the video in TV, using TV-out cable or other means, record in 352x288 to best-fit on TV screen. Select 176x144 for mms and 128x96 for e-mails.

0. How a TV-out cable works: A TV-out cable is a special enhancement of Samsung phones. One end of the cable fits in the charger port and the other end has 3 jacks-red, white and yellow, exactly like the DVD player to TV connector. Once you connect phone and TV, the entire display of the phone is shifted to the TV as a big display and the phone screen becomes dark! Watching the display on TV, you can operate the phone in the normal way-the only difference being the display is on the TV screen. When a video is opened, it automatically occupies full-screen of TV. You can watch photos, use file viewer, browse internet, play games etc watching the TV or hear music through the TV speakers.

31. How to set up e-mail(Gmail) account in your D900: I got this information originally from Usman’s website > X700 section > internet tips > Tip#02. You may refer this page also. If you have a pop3 e-mail account, you can send/receive e-mails from your phone. As per the information given, only gmail is providing free pop3 access till now. Hence the procedure for setting up a g-mail account is given here. Anyhow, you can set up accounts other than g-mail also, if you enable pop3/imap4 access.
WEB SETTINGS
1. Log in to your Gmail account from PC.
2. Click Settings at the top of Gmail page.
3. Click Forwarding and POP in the orange Mail Settings box.
4. On POP download section, select Enable POP for all mails.
5. ‘When messages are accessed with pop’– select ‘keep Gmail’s copy in the inbox’
6. Click Save Changes ... A message will appear that Your preferences have been saved.

PHONE SETTINGS
Go to menu..messages..settings..e-mails..Email accounts..acount settings and select account1. Sample settings are given below for an e-mail account “abcd@gmail.com” with password “1234” (example).
· In Use- (tick it)
· Account name – (any name; example- abcd)
Press ok/I to go to next section
· User name – (Enter your name or any other. When you send a mail from PHONE, the receiver will get this user name in the ‘From’ column. This will not affect the sender name, when you mail from computer.)
· Email address - abcd@gmail.com
· Reply address - abcd@gmail.com
Press ok/I to go to next section
· SMTP server – smtp.gmail.com
· SMTP port – 465
· SMTP User ID – abcd
· SMTP password – 1234
· Secure connection (SMTP) – (tick it)

· APOP login – (DON’T tick)
· Secure connection(POP3) – (tick it)
Press ok/I to save settings.
Now go back to ‘current account’ and select the above account there.
Again go back. In Receiving options –
· Check interval – If you select, say, ‘ 3 hour’, your e-mails will be retrieved every 3 hour and you will be informed by a message. Normal GPRS charges may apply. Select ‘not used’ if you don’t want to check mails automatically.
· Retrieve option – normal (if you select ‘headers only’, you can retrieve mail later)
· Download limit – 300kb(recommended)
· Keep in server – (tick it)
Save and go back to e-mail profiles. Select your network from the ‘current profile’ list. If it is not included, go to ‘profile settings’ and edit any of the given settings. Only your service provider can provide the correct settings-APN, id and password. This need not be same as the wap settings. After saving the correct settings, back to ‘current profile’ and select the saved settings there.
Now it’s all done!! Go to my messages..e-mail inbox and select ‘check new mail’. Your mails will be retrieved. Besides this, if you have selected 1hr/3hr/6hr… in receiving options of e-mail settings, e-mails will be automatically retrieved in that interval. You may go to sound settings..message tone and select a different tone for e-mail for easy identification.
To SEND e-mails, go to messages..create message..e-mail.
To set up another Gmail account, go to ‘account settings’ and from options select, ‘create’. Mails to all accounts will be retrieved automatically. When you send an e-mail, the SELECTED account in ‘e-mail account>current account’ is used.

32. How to save memory by resizing big images: For viewing in the phone, photos need not be large. So once you have backed-up the ‘My photos’ (bigger than 640x480) in pc, you may reduce their size and save phone memory, if you want to keep them. For resizing, select ‘edit’ from options. When photo is opened in image editor, select ‘save as’ from options. Save with the new name and it is resized to 640x480. You can then delete the old one.

33. How to move photos from memory card/computer, BACK TO My Photos: Only, photos in ‘My Photos’ folder, can be edited, and set as full screen wallpaper, irrespective of the size. And only, photos taken with the phone’s camera can be saved in ‘My Photos’ folder. But if you move a captured photo to memory card or pc, it cannot be moved back to My Photos folder directly- it will move to downloaded images only. For moving back into My Photos folder, first move into ‘Favourite images’ from downloaded images, then move to My Photos. You can’t move an external image into My Photos folder. But you can move photos taken with OTHER D900 PHONES into My photos of your phone! If you want to verify this, down load this photo (this is sent to me by Dr.A.Adedoyin, a regular visitor of gsm arena –D900 opinion pages, and it is taken in his D900) and this photo (taken in my D900). Copy these to downloaded images, move to favourite images and finally, move to My photos.

34. How to zoom or view full screen, ANY (downloaded) image: You can zoom, view screen full, or rotate any image transferred from pc. For this, you should copy images from pc to OTHER FILES folder, not to ‘downloaded images’. Once in other files folder, the jpeg, bmp and gif images open with picsel file viewer, not with the phone’s image viewer. To begin with, follow these steps; (later you can set your own) (i) Open the image in other files folder.
(ii) From options, select settings.
(iii) Select panning to 40 pixels, turn OFF ‘map on’ & ‘controller’ and save. This helps to view the pictures better.
(iv) Press 5 to rotate to landscape view and back
(v) Press # to view full screen
(vi) Use the volume (side) keys to zoom
(vii) Use the four navigation keys to navigate through the image
(viii) Press 7 to fit the image to its width and use ‘up’, ‘down’ keys to navigate.
(ix) Press 9 to fit the image to the its height and use ‘left’, ‘right’ keys to navigate
Notes: 1. For landscape photos(most of the photos are landscape), rotate by pressing 5 and then press #
2. I could view photos upto size 2000x1500 using the file viewer, but when I tried to open 2048x1536 (3Mp) sized photo, a message came ‘document may be truncated’.
Photos captured with the phone’s camera (except size 2048x1536) also are better viewed with picsel file viewer. This is so because all the photo sizes except 240x320 are landscape sizes, and when you view a photo full screen, it is viewed in portrait mode. So you cannot view the whole photo in full screen, but a portion of it at a time, zoomed.(Same reason why the full screen viewfinder in camera gives you trouble) If you want to have the ‘real full screen view’ of the photos you’ve taken, move them to pc, then move back to phone’s ‘other files’, open it, press 5 and press # !
The only difficulty is that you can transfer the photos to other files, only via pc. I can’t find yet, a way to copy images from My photos to other files directly. Perhaps you can!

Some Useful Java Applications 1. Opera Mini
Opera mini is the most popular mobile web browser. The version 3.1 is available at operamini.com or getjar.com. In the phone browser(menu 4-3), enter wap.getjar.com, select ‘Quick download’, enter the code 9531, download to mobile and finally install. Or visit getjar.com/d900 compatible software, download the jad and jar files to the same folder and install through data cable.

2. The Messiah (How to hide your personal images/videos in memory card)
The D900 allows you to keep any folder in My files or the whole memory card, private (menu -9-7-5). But we usually keep most of the files, in memory card, to free phone memory. Then what will you do –for example, if you want to allow your friends to browse the photos in memory card while KEEPING THE VIDEOS in the card PRIVATE? Or to deny access to only a few photos and videos in the card? Using the privacy option you can only, lock all the card data or open all. The java app ‘The Messiah’ is a good remedy for this. I am using this successfully. Using it, you can make any one folder in the memory card (or phone) INACCESSIBLE, though it can’t make the folder password protected. It encrypts the files to a strange format and so denies access to them.
First you make a new folder in memory card and move the images/videos to be protected to that folder, using ‘move to memory card’ option.(You can make new folders in memory card or inside any folder in memory card using ‘create folder’ option and also you can keep any file- image, video, music etc- in any folder in card). Then install ‘The Messiah’. In the phone browser (menu 4-3), enter wap.getjar.com, select ‘Quick download’, enter the code 11172, download to mobile and finally install. Or visit getjar.com/d900 compatible software, download the jad and jar files (to the same folder) and install through data cable.
Using it: It works in a specific manner only. So read the following carefully:
Suppose you have created a folder ‘W’ inside the ‘other files’ folder in memory card and moved your private photos/videos to “W”. Start the application-The Messiah, go to options and then settings. Say ‘yes’ when asked whether to connect. It shows all the folders in phone and card (tflash). Select ‘tflash’ and press ok/i. Folders in card will be displayed. Select ‘other files’ and press ok/i. Folders inside other files will be displayed. Select ‘W’, but DON’T OPEN it. From options, select ‘images folder’ and then ‘videos folder’. (Select both these options, even if you want to hide either of images or videos only) When finished, select from options, ‘Done’. You will return to the start screen. Then again from options, select ‘Encrypt images’, if you want to hide images in your folder and ‘Encrypt videos’ to hide videos also. Then exit the application open my files>memory card and open W. You’ll only find some unsupported files there. Whenever you want to unhide images/videos, start The Messiah, from main options, select decrypt images/decrypt videos or both and exit. It won’t work properly, if you select more than one folder. That’s why I advised you to create the target folder first. This also means that you need to go to settings option, only once.
When the files are encrypted, if you move a new image/video to W, it will not be encrypted automatically, you have to start the program again and select encrypt images/videos, once more.
(Although this phone misses some features, it is so flexible that many-a-impossible can be made possible.)

SECRET MENU TIPS Using secret codes and entering test menus etc are not officially recommended as they are intended for technical purposes only. Only a few tips that I have confirmed in my phone, are included. Still I cannot guarantee their results and you have to take the risk, if any. The topics included are increasing ring/message volume, increasing the music player volume through phone, increasing conversation volume, and removing ‘G’/’E’ icon from main screen. If you don’t feel need for any of these, just ignore this part and pass to the next. Or click here to download.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS(New)
1. Can I change the message alert tone and use my favorite mp3 tones?
No. You can select only from the default tones list. Mp3 tones can be used as ring tones and alarm tones, but not for message alert.

2. Which memory card should I purchase for this phone?
Micro sd(trans flash) card has to be purchased. Mini sd won’t work. Regarding the brand, user opinions from all sides say that Sandisk cards works best with this phone. Any card beyond 512 MB, buy Sandisk only. A Sandisk 1GB will work without any problem(I’m also using one). And many users say that Sandisk 2GB also work without problems, but this I’m not sure.
See this page also ; http://www.mobile9.com/invboard/index.php?showtopic=36351
Before using card, format it using the format option in my files..memory card..options..memory card settings…format card

3. The view finder of the camera shows objects upside down or left as right?
This is because you have accidently pressed the volume keys on the left side of the phone while in camera mode. These keys are shortcuts for flip image – vertically(up key) and horizontally(down key). Avoid pressing them by mistake, while pressing the camera button on the right side. To correct the problem, start camera again and press, ‘up’ volume key (if image appears upside down) or ‘down’ volume key (if image appears left as right)

4. The videos recorded with its camera appear to be low quality and small?
Start camera in video mode, press left soft key to get options, enter camcorder settings, select recording mode-Normal, size-320x240, quality-superfine, then record a video and see. However with the superfine quality, file size will be too large. So for long videos, select Quality – Economy.

5. Videos recorded by the camera cannot be played in the pc. Why?
Recorded videos are in mp4/3gp format, so may be incompatible with old versions of windows media player or winamp. Use the multimedia player that comes with PC studio application (last item in main menu) or use players like Apple Quick time (see useful links section to download)

6. How to save a photo send to me via mms?
View the mms and then from options select ‘Attached items’. Select the image and save. The image goes to downloaded images folder.

7. Even if I turn off camera shutter sound, a sound is heard while capturing. How can I turn this off?
This sound is heard while in auto focus mode and not in pan focus mode. To take photos without any sound, enter silent mode by pressing and holding # key, before starting camera.

8. Does the ‘G’ or ‘E’ blue icon shown in main screen cause me extra charges or does it consume more battery?
No. The blue icon only shows whether you are in GPRS/EDGE network. You can use internet whenever the icon is there. You need to bother about the charges only when the icon glows in pink colour; that is when GPRS is active.
