- Исклучително многу ја сакам Грција, добро ја познавам земјата и вистински се натажив кога ги видов снимките по улиците на Атина, на кои сите станавме сведоци. За Европејците, Грција е икона на цивилизацијата, на културата и кога гледаме вакви насилства, судири и грабежи во една држава како што е Грција, тоа навистина го бранува целиот свет - истакна Саркози.

Abstract

Macedonia's centrality to the making of Greece over the past century provides the empirical grounding for an exploration of how cultural-symbolic borrowing rather than cross-border othering has been crucial for border making in Modern Greece and, by extension, everywhere in the world.

There has been a recent revival in studies of borders between states and what they mean in relation to both the history of state formation and the effects of globalization on state power.

Typically, however, the borders between modern “nation-states” are seen as originating in cross-pressures between pairs of neighboring states just the same in Africa today as, say, in nineteenth-century France.

The wider contemporary geographical context may be invoked in terms of the “sides” taken in particular border disputes by other nearby states or by the Great Powers.

Rarely, however, is the wider historical-geopolitical context invoked as the primary source of the practices, simultaneously material and symbolic, that produce the desire for precise borders in the first place. With increased globalization, however, the making of Greece in Macedonia may become increasingly problematic because the political logic of all national border-making is increasingly in question.

On March 13th 1821, twelve days before the official beginning of the War of Independence, the first revolutionary flag was actually raised on the island of Spetses by Laskarina Bouboulina. Twice widowed with 7 children but extremely rich she owned several ships. On April 3rd Spetses revolted, followed by the islands of Hydra and Psara with a total of over 300 ships between them. Bouboulina and her fleet of 8 ships sailed to Nafplion and took part in the seige of the impregnable fortress there. Her later attack on Monemvasia managed to capture that fortress. She took part in the blockade of Pylos and brought supplies to the revolutionairies by sea. Bouboulina became a national hero, one of the first women to play a major role in a revolution. Without her and her ships the Greeks might not have gained their independence. What is less well known is that she was Albanian.

And according to some Kolokotronis created the flag,another Albanian!

MACEDONIAN TYPE OF LAMPS

The Macedonian type of lamps in Republic of Macedonia are found at Stobi, Negotino (almost as a unique type from the 2nd century BC), Demir Kapija (likewise as a unique type from the 2nd century BC), Kavadarci, Prilep, Bitola, Ohrid, IsarMarvinci – where this particular type from the total of excavated lamps from the Macedonian period is present by (59%) and is the most common type during this period.

The case is identical on the territory of Ancient Macedonia that presently is in frames of Greece.
Namely, these types of lamps are found at Pella 37%, also in a large group in Veroia, Thessaloniki, Amphipolis and far south as Dion.

In Thessaly this type of lamps is not present. Strong testimony that this is a local type of a lamps is the locations of the findings, the percentage of the presence of these finds, as well as the absence of this type out side the boundaries of Ancient Macedonia.
