In 2010 I decided to make a trip to Macedonia and started learning the language. I found this forum and got registered. Then my plans changed but I came to this forum from time to time to read something and to see photographs. There was no invitation from anyone.

Iratus, if you want to learn something more about the Macedonian language, I recommend this book: http://www.amazon.com/Macedonian-Beginning-Intermediate-Students-English/dp/0299247643/
It also has a CD supplement: http://www.amazon.com/Macedonian-Beginning-Intermediate-Students-English/dp/0299247643/

The whole package is about 70 USD, but it will be worth it. I have the second edition of the book, and the links are for the third edition, which should be even better. Even I, a native speaker of Macedonian, found it helpful and learned something from it.

If you are coming to Macedonia, welcome. :)

Iratus - I should be having a lot of free time in September (unless I use it for vacation plans etc.), so I could show you around if you like, along with a few other people (of and off the forum). If you speak slowly, I might be able to understand you in Russian, though talking back in Russian would be one hell of a challenge for me :D, my father sadly never taught me that language, even though I have partial heritage from there (Russia). We're left with English and Spanish, and you speak very good English, so we could go from there.

I'll recommend Berovo, Krushevo and Galichnik myself. Been to other, more major towns, few of them recently, and they are a disaster in the making. They don't try to attract tourists, nor are they trying to hold onto those that did visit. Any tourist activity there was from tourist newcomers, who never before visited this country, and those that did, usually don't come back here if they visited these cities (Ohrid, Bitola, Prilep).

Hello dear Macedonians! My name is Georgi and I am planning to visit your wonderful country in September. I am going to spend 10 days there.
I have some questions and would highly appreciate it if you answer them.
How many days is enough to see Skopje and Ohrid? Are the cities very big? Should I take a bus inside the cities? How much is a ticket? What is the best way to go to Ohrid? By bus or train? How much is a ticket? What towns would you recomment to visit if I stay in Skopje and Ohrid and want to make daily trips?
I might have other questions too :)
By the way, I would love to meet real Macedonians too. My native language is Russian and I am fluent in English. So, anyone who would like to have a chat and drink tea or coffee with me is more than welcome!
Hope to see your replies soon.

Hey , Im also coming to Macedonia in September :)

Galichnik looksvery attractive

I forgot to ask about the weather. Will it be hot or warm in September?

Probably warm, although it's likely to become chilly towards the end of the month. Then again, this summer is the coolest one we've had in years (temperature-wise), so the weather is unpredictable. It's best to pack some warm clothes as well. Also, be prepared for rain in September.

The Macedonian Independence Day is 8th of September, so there's probably going to be a happening organized for it. Depending on how long you'll stay, you might visit the Skopje Festivals of the Beer (Пиволенд) and of the Wine (Виноскоп), although I'm not sure at which dates they will be organized.

Dear all, thank you everybody for all your advise. Your country is very beautiful and the people are very nice!
