Eurobasket 2017: not all groups will start or end on same day
FIBA Europe announced two extra days of rest for the teams.
With the new formula:
Day 1: only Groups A-B
Day 2: only Groups C-D
Day 3: Groups A-B-C-D
Day 4: only Groups A-B
Day 5: only Groups C-D
Day 6: Groups A-B-C-D
Day 7: only Groups A-B
Day 8: only Groups C-D
With the new format there won’t be overnight transfers for the teams and the National Teams will now play 5 games in 7 days (in the current edition they play 5 games in 6 days)
(Example: if the Groups A and B will finish their 1st round on Thursday, they are going to play the Round of 16 on Sunday).
In the Round of 16 the teams qualified from Group A will play against the teams qualified from Group B (and teams qualified from Group C will play against the teams qualified from Group D).
In the Round of 16 will be played four games each day.
After the Round of 16 there will be a day off.
In the Quarterfinals will be played two games each day (and a team from Groups A or B could play against a team from Groups C or D)
The semifinals of Eurobasket 2017 are currently scheduled for the same day. But the semifinals could be split if the 3rd place game takes place on day of the final.
