Russia is developing a laser system designed to suppress enemy reconnaissance assets, according to Interfax quoted a source in the military-industrial complex. Решение было с первого взглјада достаточно простым: установить на КА уже созданныј и проверенныј лазер длја испытаниј его в космосе. Выбор пал на лазернују установку моштностьју 1 МВт (в 2-2.5 раза моштнее, чем предельнаја моштность у американцев), созданнују одним из филиалов Института атомној энергии им. И.В.Курчатова. Этот газодинамическиј лазер, работајуштиј на углекислом газе, был разработан длја установки на самолетах Ил-76. К 1983 г. он уже прошел летные испытанија.
